Thats why it won't happen. Think it's bad on a ball forum? Half my friends are professors or IT at IU - there's already so much animosity towards Admin that this kinda heat isn't worth it. Half the staff already really dislikes Whitten - she's gotta think this isn't a battle worth fighting IMHO.

And SMU has a jack ton of money as well. They had donors pony up the cash to put SMU in the ACC and took $0 of TV money. SMU is a serious school.

“Chris Beard is the most overrated coach going right now. Dude is 10 games over .500 for his career in conference at the P5 level. He's had two noteworthy seasons, both early at Texas Tech, and that was almost a decade ago. Since then he's been mediocre city.

There is absolutely nothing about Chris Beard's resume that suggests he'd elevate IU to a top 5 program. He couldn't maintain it at Tech, couldn't do it at UT, and hasn't done it at Ole Miss.

But he's a "tough guy" and liked Knight, so that's good enough for quite a few people.

Edit: I know some will say Lubbock is a tough place to win, but McCasland has that place rolling better than Beard did at his peak. Might as well just hire him. Better coach without the baggage.”

 

it’s only because of Knight.  Get past that guy.  Beard will not be the guy.  Probably end up beating another woman because he couldn’t handle Texas and you think he can handle Indiana.  GTFOH

I am not debating the seriousness of SMU. They get to say **** you for a different reason. If I am a university president that wants to go to a private school in Texas, I am going to SMU. But most of these presidents are in it for prestige and as much as I hate UT, it is more prestigious.

My projections?  There is definitely a bunch of teams from the 9 line to the 6 line that are about the same.   I start my 2 week basketball vacation this weekend and my kids will be done with basketball so this weekend is when I will do a deep dive into it but it seems the bubble is shaping up to be between 8-12 teams.

The Mecca of March.  Death, taxes, and USPS watching every basketball game like it’s a Christmas present being opened up.  Still love that bracket you got for Christmas a few years ago.  I need one, but I need your setup more.  Didn’t even think about the grouping from 6 to 9.  Would love to see a couple 8/9 clip a 1.

Looks like my Monarchs won (I live about 15 miles from ODU). 

I don't have ESPN-plus, so had to check the score online.

ODU had a coach a few years back who was fired because of alcohol issues. Was a damn good coach, too. 

Reading through this whole sordid Beard debate kinda takes me back to his tenure.
