lillurk Posted March 4 Posted March 4 McDermott to me is in the Cronin tier, different pros and cons and might be a temperamentally better fit but you trade some of that with age and it’s about a wash. Good coaches, would probably not bank on an IU title under either but Final 4(s)? Maybe. str8baller 1
IUBtown Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Can see Woody not giving a damn about who the next coach is and saying so. He's too busy coordinating his vino relocation. MemphisHoosier and Chris007 2
lillurk Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I also think that if that’s Woody’s take it makes some intuitive sense for someone aware of/interested in the search but not necessarily plugged in. The guy who said he likes his job and the guy who got an extension are out, this guy who knew Bob Knight really wants it? Lots of folks turning into the game tonight are in the same info environment he might be and feel similarly. Doesn’t mean they’re right. Chris007 1

You’re sitting behind the bench? ok - at the 1st media timeout (under 16), stand up and do Y-M-C-A through the entire TO. Can’t wait to see this. Scott_b, JHoosier914 and ALASKA HOOSIER 1 2
Papacap Posted March 4 Posted March 4 If Scott is just passing along info he’s been told, I don’t think he’s trolling. If he is, seems like a weird way to do it. But I also don’t put much stock in anything that would come from Woodson. Maybe he’s right. But given his bias and ego, not trustworthy. Having said that McDermott would be great. Comparing him to Alford is silly. And I don’t really care what he did at Iowa State. His teams would be fun to watch and would win a lot of games. But having said thaaaat, he’d be in the second tier for me so let’s get this done. HoosierSadaseci, Uspshoosier, Chris007 and 2 others 5

IU Prof Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I would find it much more believable that Woody knows when a candidate has taken himself out of the running, because there is nothing to sabotage there. But I would find it highly implausible Woody would know who we're still actively negotiating with. thebigweave and VFury 2

McDermott is a hell of a coach and what Collins has done at NW with such limited resources compared to other Big Ten teams is remarkable. Both play a fun style of ball and I never watch a Creighton or Northwestern game and wonder to myself why the coach is making the decisions he does.
Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted March 4 Popular Post Posted March 4 Imagine watching IU the last 9 years where you watched 1 season where your team finished above .500 in conference (4 games over .500) and turning your nose up at a coaches last 5 years where he won 68 conference games in a top 4 conference and say nah he is a mid major coach. lol Ryno6284, lillurk, CSP and 7 others 10
