Seems like a pretty clear admission of “I was fired” seriously doubt Woody said that expecting it to be repeated verbatim. VFury, lillurk, kottke and 6 others 9

This season isn't finished. In the 3 completed seasons, he's averaging exactly 21 wins per season. I guess he forgot the goal was compete for championships, both conference and NCAA, and thought that squeaking into the tournament was the goal. Yeah that’s what interesting, truly, is Mike Woodson said in his intro press conference that the goal was to compete for conference and national championships. That wasn’t foisted upon him. He was correct: those are (some of) the goals at IU. So now to want the story to be retirement AND complain to broadcasters that 21 wins/year isn’t good enough is rich. By the standards he set for himself he hasn’t succeeded! cybergates, Henryville Hoosier, Hoosierfan2017 and 8 others 11

The amazing thing is that there was nothing stopping them from playing this way all year. Did we catch that when Woodson went to the group that began the year as starters that UW immediately went on a 6-0 run? He's a good coach, and decent tactically; think his lineup choices are the main thing that did him in. 8bucks and lillurk 2

It will be forever baffling to me that he saw the results of the Ware-Reneau-Mgbako frontcourt last season, and decided "let's do that again, except with a more traditional center that doesn't offer any of Ware's outside game". It's water under the bridge now though. I have liked his changes recently and I hope he goes out with a bang. JPCIVOP, Jeff Flabjohns, go iu bb and 5 others 7 1
Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted March 2 Popular Post Posted March 2 The biggest irony thing that could happen in this coaching search would be having to wait until IU loses in the NCAA tourney before they could announce Drew as the next head coach after Baylor doesn’t make the tourney. He's a good coach, and decent tactically; think his lineup choices are the main thing that did him in.It’s a bit more than that. Besides being stubborn as heck, his inability to have enough shooters around his very good Bigs, cost him the chance to have really great seasons. Also it took him 4 years to stop platooning lineups, stop auto benching with 2 fouls. He still hasn’t limited the long 2 enough, but sitting Tucker has helped with that. Speaking of Tucker, wow. That’s really gone South. Stuff behind the scenes must be in action because you’d think he’d still get some minutes in a limited role. Think he could; since they've gone to this new lineup approach, they're at around 1.18 ppp on offense and 95.5 on defense. Those efficiency metrics are a lot like teams like Michigan, Louisville and UCLA. Hope they keep it up! lillurk 1
