He'd be 61 when the season starts and he's another Alford.  Good at small schools not cut out for a big job.  I promise you they'd regret that hire.  The fans would be rooting for his firing from the jump.  Much better to go with an up and comer if it got that far.  I highly doubt it does.

Don't agree with this at all. He is a very good coach. Alford was a good recruiter. Wish he was younger but I just want to win. He is a winner in the big east. That isn't some tiny conference

I think McDermott is great, and think he would do very well at IU. Having said that, he isn't 1 of the 5 names i heard about yesterday. Other names I didn't hear: Brownell, Buzz, or Cronin (which surprised me)

A. Drew

B. Otz?
C. Mccasland? May?

D.  Devries or Collins?

E. Mccollum

McDermott seems like another version of Crean.

He has averaged 11.8 losses per year ever since Creighton joined the Big East in 2013-2014.

Crean averaged 11 losses/yr at Marquette if I remember correctly.

Not as a slight to either, but I'm saying there will be highs and lows for sure rather than the consistency we're looking for.

Thanks.

I don't expect you to comment, but I suspect Otz and Lloyd are actionable and could be interested in the resources upgrade at IU.  The ISU situation has been covered here pretty comprehensively already.  Arizona has financial issues and Tommy may not be too happy there...

That guy has been saying Drew for a few weeks. It's known that Beard really wants the job, it's also known he won't get it.

Don’t think Baylor will be in the tourney long so if it is him we’ll know sooner rather than later haha

Drew should be the obvious #1 assuming Brad and Dusty are out.  I’d be shocked if he wasn’t #1 on Dolson’s board.  Better hope we get him or a lot of people will be disappointed and a good chance we’re hiring another coach in a few years.

Small school? Creighton is in the Big East and is routinely in the top ten in attendance nationally. He's not my top choice by any means but he's a darn good coach with a long track record of success and he's considered one of the better offensive minds in the sport by industry experts and other coaches. I watch quite a lot of basketball, probably too much, and they are a lot of fun to watch! Since 2016, he's averaged 23 wins, made the NCAA Tournament all but one season and he's been to the Elite Eight once and Sweet 16 two other times in the past four seasons. In that time, here are Creighton's KenPom numbers:

-2016 - 40th (43 offense/49 defense)

-2017 - 28th (32/46)

-2018 - 30th (25/58)

-2019 - 55th (47/83)

-2020 - 12th (3/78)

-2021 - 22nd (25/32)

-2022 - 50th (112/19)

-2023 - 12th (23/14)

-2024 - 11th (9/24)

Again, not my top choice but I don't see anything that suggests he would be a complete disaster. Plus, he's certainly not short! To each his own though and I am hopeful it ends up being someone else.
