Yes, Goode said he was going to challenge to get a medical redshirt year, since he missed a majority of his Sophomore year.

Extremely unlikely he'll be granted another year.

I remain confident that I have good info.

what level of confidence would you say you have that BS is the coach next year based on the info you have currently? Not locking you in, just curious.

Shifting gears a bit, who do we think Brad keeps as holdovers from the current roster? I think an open invitation to return will be given to Malik, Mackenzie, and Bryson Tucker. Tougher conversations likely need to happen with Rice. No reason he can't grow into a great role player, but he's certainly not a starter and our primary point guard.

Newton, Cupps, K9 all gone.

I do not think Brad Stevens is going to be the new head coach but I don't know how that all is going to play out. Certainly not with any level of confidence. I would be VERY surprised if Bryson Tucker or Mackenzie Mgbako are on IU's roster next season.

I'm not terribly concerned about hiring the youngest coach (43 vs. 48 vs. 54). While it would be awesome to get a guy for the next 20-25 years, how often does that actually happen these days? Izzo, Painter, Self....

We need to get the best coach possible and can't afford to sacrifice for a guy a few years younger. Beggars can't be choosers, and we are some beggin' mofos

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Cronin.

Harrick and Howland had little trouble building contenders there. Cronin is close to Lavin and Alford than those two.

I don’t hate Cronin but he really hasn’t built the rosters that Drew has.

This is the concern about Cronin at UCLA. I mean, he does have a final four, which is obviously a positive.

But Harrick proved you can obviously win a title at UCLA post-Wooden.

And Howland made a championship game and two additional final fours after Harrick. He was a weird dude, but he did win big for a while.

I think Cronin would probably be really solid at IU, but he's certainly not shown himself to be an amazing coach. Of course, solid would look amazing compared to Woody, so...

Personally, I'd be kinda surprised if the new coach kept any of the three. Malik seems like a good kid, but as someone else put it, he's the type of player that gets you fired. Good enough you have to play him, but too many holes in his game to be a key cog in a championship level team. Mgbako needs a change of scenery. Rumor is that Tucker has been difficult behind the scenes (which is saying something with this crew).

I think you need a full reset to fix the culture.

The only thing I know us who we aren't hiring because well they aren't pure.

Beard

Pitino

Pearl

May ship sailed last year

Stevens 2% chance

Bronwell 50% chance

Cronin 25% chance

Given that we probably aren't getting a top name he is probably the best we can do unless your a big brad bronwell guy.

Cronin only made a final 4 because half of his starters were from another coach.

Tucker in particular looks checked out, at least for the little bits they showed of him during the Penn State game.

@Chris007 do you remember a guy here telling you Archie was going to be the head coach like jackal says?

I don't exactly but not saying he isn't right. He said it was a different username so that might be it. Also, I was on the Archie train from Christmas on so if someone told me that, I was already believing it myself. I was way wrong but I thought Archie was the guy for a while. There is a lot of info being thrown out right now because the search is the talk of the town. But if people were made to sign something to be quiet about a certain candidate, then people start talking about others. Smokescreens. But I honestly don't know what's real and what's not right now so I'm trying to listen to everyone.

I think Malik is the kind of player that gets you fired only because you have to play him but don't know how use him correctly nor develop him. With the right coaching staff he can be a key piece.

As for the other two I agree. I think Tucker's dad also poses some difficulty if I remember. Happy trails to them.
