General Coach Candidate News

I know others have said it, but it seems highly unusual that we'd be scheduling this many non-conference games at this level, without input from the new coach.

You'd want to do everything you could to set the new guy up for success, and part of that would be letting him have a big say in the schedule.

Yeah I'd love to get an explanation as to why they're scheduling games without the input of whoever the next coach is.

It would be nice but we are probably reading to much into it. We don't have a coach so dolson is probably making the schedule himself so we don't lose any of the games by procrastinating. Hopefully I am wrong and stevens is telling him what games to schedule lol

Because there's better than a 0% chance the new coach is already signed by the administration and he's giving his input.

Here's an off-the-wall possibility...

We've effectively known since Atlantis that Woodson was cooked. We've also been hearing that Scott has been having conversations with a high level target (assumed to be Brad) since December, at least.

TJ Otzelberger reportedly renegotiated his contract to lower his buyout to $4 million in December.

What if Dolson has had his guy in place for a while, but it's TJ, not Brad?

Edit: This would also explain the relative lack of noise on the search front, Brad's statement to Goodman, and the recent Otz smoke...

Rabby says this is completely normal and schools do it all the time during a coach search....allegedly

Pretty good food for thought from Mike Wiemuth (X’s & Joes Pod) @M_Wiemuth_

Be wary of chatter. Coaches who know they’re at the top of an AD’s target list don’t require their media pals to start whisper campaigns for their candidacy. Often times the more you hear a coach’s name, the further towards the bottom they reside on the program’s candidate list.

Wow that is actually really good and true. Mike does a really good job and is usually spot-on

IUs non-con next season (some, not 100% confirmed)

@ UK, vs. Kansas St, neutral (Chicago) vs Marquette, neutral (New York - Arthur Ashe Stadium) vs St. Johns

The next HC will have nearly unlimited NIL, resources, a great national schedule, and the big ten. Whoever we get will 100% be more prepared and have a plan unlike our current situation, regardless of who it is.

Is the UK just one year, or are we back to meeting annually again?

I'm not even going to cross that bridge, and even worry about that. :-) Just kidding but yes someone would hear that

Chris sorry if you have stated this, but I haven't seen it. Have you heard the same info as BehindTheBench that we should know the decision next week? Not a formal announcement but a leak to media?

Tell me you've never been to Ames, IA without telling me you've never been to Ames, IA.

Actually Iowa St punches above their weight in BB. Another reason for IU to feel about being in the wilderness for 25yrs.

Haha.  Fair.  I went on a recruiting trip/camp there.  Then the same trip/camp in Bloomington.  Glad i ended up playing in Bloomington!
