His son wasn’t a walk on in college 4 years ago.

Did his son just start playing basketball four years ago? If he wanted to coach his son then it wouldn’t have taken any foresight four years ago to see that that would've been an opportunity had he taken the job.

Don’t think that story benefits your opinion the way you think it does. If new challenges and being uncomfortable is what it’s all about then it’s time for a new challenge and going to IU because he’s already accomplished the top goal in Boston.

This was all about the “family vote” that someone imagined and has been retold repeatedly like folklore

The only person I've ever actually seen report that is Woj. Others have shared Woj's report, but i haven't seen (doesn't mean is doesn't exist) any other original reporting that IU made an offer.

Even Woj's report said IU was "prepared" to offer Stevens. Stevens has denied that offer happening.

So just because only one NBA insider that you know of (and a pretty damn big one) stated it, that doesn't go against your narrative how?  And doesn't it seem strange that the EXACT number and years that Woj gave matched what had been said in this forum months prior?

The vast majority of material that is getting released by 'insiders' is getting leaked on purpose from someone that wants the info to leak out.  Notice that the Luka trade caught everyone off guard.....why is that?

If we delve into the college game....why was it that no one in the media released the issue with Ballo skipping town?  Sports media -- or at least ones that you could trust -- have a different standard than Joe Schmoe on a message board has to give information.  It's part of the reason that Trilly Donovan releases so much good info....he's behind a persona.

Who is saying they don't want Stevens. I'd be extremely happy if he came. I just don't see it. Hope I'm wrong

That the vibe I get from some posters.  There’s theories both ways to support arguments.  I truly believe this is the time it happens.  If I’m wrong about this being the time it happens, so be it.  IU will get a great coach either way.

Iu will get a great coach either way? Where do you guys get your optimism? We haven't hired a great coach since knight. Sampson was a great coach so obviously that had to get blown up! I am praying things work out but I am not close to some of you guys confidence level lol

The latest on the Celtics sale:

The only known bidder at this point is current Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca, who has expressed his intention to acquire the team he has co-owned with Wyc Grousbeck for over twenty years.

Nah, not it at all for me. Just based on what I know and also experiences, I don't believe any of the stuff that it was ever close last time.

This time, I don't think he's coming, and I think the signs are all pointing that he isn't. But with that said, I think the Celtics ownership situation does potentially change things, maybe the chance to coach his son too. Also with the Luka trade, anything is possible at this point.

I'm a Celtics fan and an IU fan, so either way I get Brad Stevens leading my favorite team (college or NBA)

It’s easy to like that Celtics team.  They’re a great team with a great coach.  I really like Joe Mazzulla.  He keeps his players grounded and keeps them striving for more.  It’ll take a monumental effort to beat that team.  I don’t see it.

I think a lot of posters thought we were getting him 4 years ago. Then we didn't, and everyone laughed at us. They don't want to go through that again and writing it off now is one way to prevent that.

I do think it's a little strange we've had an influx of new posters all trying to shout it down, though.

I know this isn’t more Stevens talk (though I love it), so I apologize in advance…

I’ve seen so many posts saying something to the effect of, “I completely trust Scott Dolson to get this right.” I want to believe that. I really do.

But in my personal fandom experience, I feel like it’s mostly consisted of we can “no longer have nice things” as IU fans. Outside of a smattering of good memories  (Wat shot, Yogi against Iowa, beating UK in the tourney) the highlight for me was making the championship game in 2002. I was in 5th grade ha! My gut tells me we should finally be due for consistent success again. But how long have I been thinking that now.

I’m genuinely curious to hear opinions of why people trust Dolson so much, outside of the Cignetti hire. Maybe Chris or others could shed some light on this. For what it’s worth, I like the guy. But ya know, a blind squirrel and all that…What about Scott makes you trust him to get this right?

I think people forget...

HE wanted to come last time, his family wasn't ready..

His family is in a different place now..

The Celtics won in NBA title

Last and I think the most important detail that people don't think about..

He doesn't do the conventional thing...

OR...

that's the spin being spun...

Yeah, i love Mazzulla. He's fantastic, and Tatum is just hitting the start of his prime and playing the best basketball of his career right now.

I'm nervous about the Cavs and Thunder, but we have a good shot.

Perfect! I'm glad there might be some stability in upper management with the loss of Stevens.[emoji4] ....I know you are being super realistic with everything you're saying. But I want to believe IU is allowed to have nice things now.
