Brady is hatable because

  1. He's a cheater
  2. Boston fans are the worst so it's easy to hate everything about him
  3. He always whined to the refs
  4. He got all the credit for teams successes

Not because he won a lot

I'm off to buy a lottery ticket.. after all of these years, I finally found something that I could agree with from @Josh /s

To me Cronin is a guy with strong NIL has us a top 4 seed regularly. Which means in the hunt for deep runs. After that it’s a crap shoot. But if the floor is making the tournament each year, challenging for the Big Ten annually, and then see how the tournament goes, I’m down for that.

Yup. He’s not my guy because I don’t love the temperamental fit and I imagine he’d struggle with the fishbowl. But the idea that that guy isn’t a good enough coach and has a “limited ceiling”, whatever the hell that means, is simply stupid. But I imagine it’s irrelevant because everything about his name being attached here screams agent looking for an extension.

Literally none of those reasons would matter if he didn't win more than any NFL quarterback in history. So yeah, people do hate him cause he won a lot.

I am not going to argue about the amount of people, but there are plenty of posts supporting him, hard to miss them actually?

Saying they wouldn't be upset with him being hired and that he's better than some of the other names being thrown around doesn't mean they want him as the coach. I don't see anyone saying Cronin is their #1 choice.

I think the May extension sheds some light on the search imo. I don’t think May signs his “low ball” extension if IU was after him. I think he would have got a lot more money if he could leverage an IU offer.
Which tells me that Dolson either has his guy or he is still in discussions with guys he rates above May. Who those coaches are, I’m unsure. But there are many coaches I’d rather have before going to May, if the money was available for buyouts. Sounds like we have money to spend so….
May also took a $1 mil raise, still less than Archie at IU 8 years ago. And the buyout is still low at $7.5 mil. So he says he is staying at Michigan because he doesn’t have an IU offer. He also couldn’t leverage IU interest bc Dolson isn’t there yet and possibly won’t be. But if plans fall through May has a manageable buyout for IU to get him if their top options do not pan out.

I don’t believe all the top tier options have been exhausted yet. In Dolson I trust and I think IU will be in good hands moving forward with whoever they hire because it will not be someone like Brownell or McCollom. It will be with someone who has a track record of success.
I have posted this already and got destroyed for it but will try again. Dusty would be a huge gamble for both parties and I believe that is a much bigger factor than posters on here give credit. He has a good thing going at michigan. To think if he left that after 1 year and came to a conference rival the pressure to succeed would be insane. If iu stole may and he struggled here everyone would have open eyes as to why that would be. Imo neither party would wa t to take that risk imo. I doubt we pursued may very hard if at all behind the scenes.

Nope.   do people that hate Tom Brady know him personally?   It’s not that deep.   I don’t like him therefore I don’t want him coaching the team I’m invested in

YEP, The same way I've felt about Calipari and a few others just like him. While it seems in today's game anything is legal character should still be a thing.

Cronin is the popular choice of “a lot” of people on this forum. Just read through past pages and you will find them. Even Indy Star’s Doyle is pushing Cronin, the other names you may be right about, but there are people on this forum that have shown support for guys like Brownell and Pitino. I am still hoping for an elite proven coach, but the Cronin talk is very real and I would be very disappointed if that is the direction we go.

He finished 12th in the coaching Sweet 16 poll(13th if you add in Brad Stevens), so he is far from a "popular choice by a lot of people." He is being discussed at length due to the inordinate amount of dislike he gets compared to his coaching record. He is at best 7th on my list but would be the best coach by leaps and bounds since Kelvin Sampson, if IU were to hire him.

If pressure is keeping him from coming to IU then no one should want him. We need a coach that wants to be here. We need a coach with the passion and love for IU basketball that Crean had, just with better coaching abilities. If Dusty would rather stay at the football school where basketball will always be the lil brother purely bc it's more comfortable, safer, and gives him a warm, fuzzy feeling - then I don't want him here. We need someone with some damn balls.

That's why some love Beard. That's why some love Bruce Pearl. That's why some can get on board with Buzz Williams. No more nice guy attitude and you know what they say about nice guys...

And Sampson only had an elite 8 and final four before coming to IU with a lot of first weekend exits.

This.  If he's worried about the pressure, or what if he fails, he doesn't belong from the get go.

Every time someone says this and I breathe a sigh of relief, 5 more posts show up saying he would be a good choice. I hope and pray he isn’t our next coach, but if he is I will support him!

I agree but this wouldn't be normal pressure of just the iu job. This is because we waited a year and he is having success at michigan. That makes this situation way worse. The fans and national media would be all over it imo and I doubt either party wanted to deal with it. Just imagine the michigan game next season. No reason to for either party to go through that. Dusty is probably thrilled to be at a school like michigan and looking like the future is bright. Iu can hopefully find a better coach than Dusty? Hopefully lol

If Dolson thought Dusty was the answer he would have fired Woody at the end of last season….

Cronin would get IU back to a place it really hasn’t been in my 30 year lifetime. Hes not my top choice, but we can (and likely will, imo) do a whole lot worse.

Just curious, who are your top 3 if you don’t mind sharing?
