Very good point. Rather amazing you have a few - not many - but a few of the same posters that resort to ad hominem attacks to others that are pro Beard and willing to look at him as a candidate. Guarantee these are the same people who claim they’re the “tolerant” ones too. It’s pretty tiresome. Ryno6284, RoadRage, Sandman and 1 other 4

I have zero desire for him to recruit most of the players he has at Northwestern as I’d want him to shoot much hire but there is no proof he can’t cheat recruit those high end players and that’s why I’m skeptical of him. Love his energy and has plenty of connections. And a ringing endorsement from Coach K would carry some weight. Not saying he's a sure thing, but man would love to see him with more talent.

I know his offense isn’t quite the change of pace we’re hoping for but his resume is something i’m absolutely willing to take a chance on. If they get to McCollum they better have exhausted all other reasonable candidates and I mean ALL other reasonable candidates before they decide to roll that doobie and smoke it Hoosier987 1

McCollum may end up being a great coach…but at this particular time, IMO, we look elsewhere.

We could double his salary and give Michigan $10M just for fun. Aren’t we discussing Cronin being a serious candidate with like a $16M buyout? If Dusty has even a shred of interest, he’s no less in play than he was yesterday. I don’t want any of the above mentioned. Let’s quit all of this nonsense of spending all this unnecessary crazy buyouts and keep it simple. Hire Chris Beard, end of story people. Even Slick Rick Pitino is trying to tell SD. Just do it! im tired of .500 (at best) in the B1G and losing to ******* Purdue MikeRoberts, Hoosier987, Mopladysman and 2 others 5
Scooter T Washington Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Why isn’t Self being mentioned? He almost took the Oklahoma State job last year. People were pissed because it took so long for OSU to name their new coach and that was because they were waiting on Self to decide if he wanted it. Things are a mess at Kansas right now and Self could be looking for a change of scenery.

68Hoosier Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Sorry was offline yesterday (outpatient surgery). Don't look like I missed much. I did see Ricky P endorsed Chris Beard and Dicky V endorsed Bennet. I am moving toward either Beard or Cronin, I think.

Things are a mess at Kansas right now and Self could be looking for a change of scenery. The problem with Self seems to be similar to the problem with Calipari, and to a lesser extent, the problem with UNC. NIL has removed the institutional advantage these places had. CBB has more parity than it ever has, and that is due in large part to the transfer portal and NIL. Hell, one need only look at CFB, and the fact the B1G has (mostly) closed the talent gap with the SEC since bag men became obsolete. To me, it isn't so much that he lost his fastball, it is that everyone else got Tommy John and has a fastball now too lol. This is why I am less worried about potentially ending up with a McCollum or Cronin type hire as long as the mechanisms (GM, Personnel director, et. al.) for managing the roster and NIL funds are in place for them. Woody has had rosters that should have been easily in the tournament all four years with simply competent coaching. If we get someone who can really coach, we will win a ton of games in this era. It should have been Dusty, but the sky is not falling. Edit: we should probably be happy Woody has been incompetent, because if he could even coach his way out of a paper bag, he 100% would be coming back for year 5.
