2 sweet 16 visits in 25 years isn’t exactly accomplished…won some games though

It’s pretty accomplished. In the grand scheme of things there are not a lot of coaches who can say they’ve done that. Doesn’t mean he is the right guy for IU. I appreciate our new friend joining the board and sharing what they are hearing. Nothing personal against Mark, but he’s been out of coaching for a while. Woody wasn’t a HC when we hired him either. Can IU not pull a sitting head coach? If we make it through the list all the way to Turgeon, we may be able to win at a better rate, but I just don’t think I’ll be able to stomach it knowing Quinn/Dolson cost us Dusty May being a year too slow. It will be hard to get excited

I am still of the opinion that Dolson had a clear plan prior to us getting to the retirement (wink, wink) announcement.  You don't get to his position without a plan and in most cases, there are several versions of that plan because anything can happen.  See 4 years ago.

He is likely connected to several agents and in the end, there has to be a mutual agreement on the numbers.  He should be vetting and looking at each of those individually and seeing what works.

If you’re gonna make up an out of the blue name to troll, not sure Sturgeon is the best one. Not really sure who would be at this point though. Everyone has been mentioned.

Turgeon hasn't been a coach since December of 2021. If IU hired him they should just shutter the program and focus on football, it would just confirm that they are truly deeply unserious about this program coming back.

It turns out all it took to get 30-40 pages in a day was for somebody to come in here and claim Mark Turgeoon is a serious candidate.

This is where the Cronin psy-op comes in; once the fan base is introduced to the idea of a guy with one Sweet Sixteen in his last 15 years of coaching, Mick Cronin looks like a Dusty May-level grand slam.

No, like I said, connection is via a mark connection specifically.

And look everyone, I know mark may not excite a lot of the base the way others might. But he’s an accomplished college coach and those aren’t easy to find, and again there’s some feeling it’s a good fit from an intangibles perspective.

I'm sorry. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff on this site over the last couple of weeks. Without having any special knowledge, I can't imagine that IU would hire a 60 year old coach, who isn't even currently a head coach, with a middling career record.

They already did that, and they only hired him because he was a former great player 40+ years ago, and he was a horrible failure as a coach.

I can't believe that people are taking these brand new posters seriously at this point. LOL
