No search firm and Dolson seems to be playing it super close to the vest. It can be frustrating, but in all actuality it’s probably the best way to handle a hiring for this type of job and if nothing else I respect Dolson for doing it this way.

My guess? We are hearing all the "IU guy" chatter for two reasons: 1) To please the former players who whined four years ago and 2) because the rest of the candidates were coaching in the tournament.

I truly believe that. Part of me likes it that way but it does leave a lot of room for speculation. 

IUBBInsider hasn’t said anything in a week, but I’m not surprised since any rumor out of his mouth, he’ll be chewed up all over it

He has a small sample size but he's shooting 100% (Roberts, Leal, Brunk, and calling the press conference). I feel like he doesn't post unless he's 100%. Last week he said it was Stevens option 1 (that failed), Beard option 2, and Beilein as the fall back.

none of the "IU guys" would seem to fit that description (at least, not the ones most frequently mentioned), nor would Matta or Beilein. Not sure who that leaves except maybe some "dream candidates" like perhaps Beard, Oats and Eric the Wild. Or SoCal Andy and his lovely wife...

Laugh at me, call me dumb, whatever. I still think it might be Brad. Think about it...there has been NO announcement from IU whatsoever (I know there won't be if he turns it down privately). I know I heard the whole masshole presser. Maybe it's just me dreaming too...but seriously...as I mentioned 322 pages ago, there's only one person who knows what's going on: Scott Dolson. No one else. Everything else is rumors and rants.

Timing. We're at Day 10. We've hired all our new coaches by March 31st in recent years. We hired Archie on March 25th.

Matta wanted the job so bad that he accepted it and then turned it down. No physical was ever given or asked for.

I think if we don’t hear news by this week, I take that as a good sign. I think that means that Dolson is at least reaching out to those in the tourney still AND/OR Stevens still (wishful thinking). I’m not at the point of panic and don’t think anyone should be unless we haven’t heard anything after 2 more weeks.
