Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Only on this message board could the best source in all of basketball say “Brad Stevens was offered 7 years 70 million and did not entertain the offer” and people still say “yep, Chris was right, he almost came to IU.” Chris and whoever else probably heard - accurately - that IU was going to make an absurd offer. That never meant he was interested (and he clearly never was - if you have ANY desire for the job, you’ll clearly take it if you can get a 100% pay raise for at least 7 years).
  2. He was a top 100 recruit and he’s been a below average center five years into college basketball. He’s a bust. He’s one of the worst high major post defenders I’ve ever seen. And not for lack of effort. He’s just lost. My guess is Woodson leveled with him and let him know the PT wouldn’t be there for him next year. So he’s leaving for the chance to play more. Same reason he left Butler. It was clear Bryce Golden was just better.
  3. Possible he goes there but he was a Holt recruit - not Stevens - and Shrews hasn’t been at BU since Brunk was in middle school.
  4. He’s been through a lot and he’s a great kid. He’s also just not good at college basketball. He was a bust. All can be true.
  5. Never said “look” - I said “seems.” I’ve seen people come out of a wisdom tooth extraction with more energy. And the contrast between him and others thought to maybe be in the mix - Musselman, for example - is striking in that regard. Again, maybe it works. I don’t know. But that’s the concern for me right now.
  6. Something I couldn’t get past watching the games last night after the presser yesterday: Kelvin is 65 and seems 55. Woodson is 63 and seems 70. I’m happy for Woodson and I hope it works - I haven’t really figured out how I feel about it and I still don’t fully understand it - but the age thing is tripping me up.

I think they’re absolutely waiting to talk to him. No idea if they can pry him from Ark. But they have to say hello.

You’re not wrong. It’s an insane amount of money, but I think Oats is the real deal and I would totally understand if they were going all in on an Oats push. Doesn’t mean he’s likely to say yes - Bama is a good job if you can get it rolling - but there’s no shame in trying.

I don’t have any good insight on what they think of him - didn’t mean to imply that. But if you have the means to even think about Holtmann (who has a $12M buyout and 3.2M salary), I don’t think enough people are going to say no that you have to resort to a guy who is such a big question mark and has no ties to the program. Whether that’s Enfield or Mussel or Belein or Woodson or even someone more surprising like Cronin or Altman or Calbert - I’m not sure right now. But I just really can’t imagine they’d put such a risk like Moser over those guys or that all of those guys say no.

I’d be completely, utterly shocked if it’s Moser.

Things are quiet. I’m confident Brad and Thad are out. Beyond that, I’m really not sure where things stand now. Going to try to squeeze for some info today, but not hopeful I’ll get anything new. What does everyone think of Andy Enfield?
  12. I know. But I can’t out myself.
  13. It would take you two minutes on google to find him connected to the jobs I just mentioned. As I said in the post - this was public. I simply don’t know if there were others. I had no connection prior to 2013, when he was fielding interest while at Butler.
  14. Brad repeatedly refused to talk about jobs when he was a rumored candidate while at Butler. While there, he had talked to Tennessee, Illinois, UCLA, and the Suns (and probably others). His MO was always always always “I don’t talk about other jobs.” For him to deny it publicly in this way is as strong of a denial as he’s ever given about anything. Heck, he even poked fun at the notion this week when he said “remember last week when I was going to Indiana?” I know none of you care about my source on this front because I’m new and it isn’t what you want to hear, so I’m not going to keep going there. But the above info is all public and merely connecting logical dots.
  15. “I only want to hear the views of people who agree with me.”
