So we're battling for coaches with Iowa? That's where IU basketball is at these days, huh. Yikes.

Yes, I know DeVries and McCollum are Iowa natives but still. A harsh reality check.

Remember how far down the list Kentucky and Louisville had to go last year? That's us this year. Don't run for the bomb shelter just yet. We may actually live through this.

Some of you act like IU can just go out there and just get any coach out there. It is a two way street and we can't make a certain coach want to coach here. Hasn't the last few years of coaching cycles proven to you that big fish don't leave their current jobs

If we're batting IOWA baskeball for someone who hasn't made it out of the first round of the tournament....IU basketball is lower than any of us would like to admit. Just deflating.

They should have been in the tournament regardless of his son’s injury status who hadn’t played since December. They had more Q1 wins without Tucker than UNC did the entire season. WVU was absolutely jobbed by the committee. They should have been a 9 seed, at worst a 10.

Well, I guess the Gov of WVU is going to handle that issue. lol

Agents are agenting

There aren't very many agents left to agent.

Is there another coaching search that has gotten so many guys extensions or raises?

So, without his son, he's ****? If thats the case, we are putting too much stock in the dude other than what he did at Drake....and I will say McCollum much more impressive run at Drake...and he does not have to worry about his son being on the team

I just don't agree with you. I'm not saying DeVries is the best coach in the country but he's really quite good. He was an assistant at Creighton for a long time (both Altman and McDermott). West Virginia was dreadful before DeVries arrived and then went 10-10 in the very tough Big 12 this season and that was without Tucker DeVries playing a conference game. Without his son, WVU still beat Kansas at Phog Allen and Iowa State (when they were #2). With Tucker DeVries, they beat Gonzaga and Arizona in Atlantis and took Louisville to overtime. That's pretty darn good for a first-year in a power conference and a first year of a major rebuild. In addition, he landed three four-star recruits at West Virginia...not bad at all.

So UK and UL must be at a all time low since they just did the same thing

Both of them were pretty freaking low - at least by their standards. IU doesn't seem to have those.

Not a HR for some but where IU is at as a program now and as someone who has watched him close for a very long time and have mentioned him multiple times throughout the years in the college basketball thread he would definitely be a HR for me. Fantastic young college basketball coach

Fair enough!
