Don’t forget that coaching is a bit of a fraternity and these guys respect each other/adhere to certain principles. One of those is you don’t take a position that is currently filled. So for next steps, do not be looking out for announcing a hire before we see an official “Mike Woodson steps down as Indiana’s coach” announcement. That’ll happen, but that’s the next milestone to look out for, not “big wink.”

It’s already been reported and in every game the announcers have all said that he’s stepping down at the end of the season.

Correct. But he is still the HC until then.

I know, and again I’m not denying that is going to happened. What I’m saying is until the next step officially happens (with an official thank you for your service statement from the IUAD), we aren’t hearing anything else.

Or just go straight Patton with the announcement. LOL

Right, so until we know that there are no more games left to play. But I don’t think that means there will be another official announcement.

You're right, and it's not only out of respect for our current coach, but for the whole coaching staff.  Jordy, Calbert and the rest are still employed.  You don't name a new coach until the whole staff is over the hump.

After he loses his last game he is officially retired from IU is the way it’s been explained to me.

Damn, I wish I got a mulitimillion dollar retirement package when IU lost.  Hopefully the next guy has some silly made up Greek or Roman title by the time it’s his time to go.  And we don’t all see each other in four years under these circumstances.

And a few of those guys could be retained
