With how it appears the coaching search is unraveling out of control, you would think Chris, RTZ, Jerry, etc...would chime in one way or another with what they've mostly recently have heard...but we're not getting that...why?...I think it's because this search is going how Scott Dolson wants it to...

They have no clue.  They were fed more bs from their "sources", now realize they were duped once again, and can't respond.

I think 15-25 years ago we definitely hire from the McDermott or TJO level of college basketball.  I just don’t think we win enough and coaches see how impatient the fanbase and University will be.  Not an easy job when you know a 180 on culture will have to occur without the benefit of patience.  Now we are probably at a lower tier of hire with the same requirements.  More money for sure.  At some point we just have to win.  I do like some of the other unnecessary barriers are seemingly not in place this hire.  I have hope.  No expectations.
I agree with everything you said. I am of the belief we pay good enough that if you have confidence in your abilities you would want to come here and be a hero! This is part of coaching at a big basketball school. Winning is the expectation and patience from fans isn't part of it.

Rabby says Beard is getting vetted.

He's added that there are still steep hills for Beard to climb from what he's heard.

He thinks that IU will move on from Beard as a result of the vetting.

There's also a metric ****-ton of plausible deniability if any of those three actually got hired. It's a zero risk assumption, he doesn't look like an idiot for that if he ends up incorrect. It is simply "I am as shocked as everyone else across the landscape that IU landed X,Y, or Z" because it would be massive earth shaking news in CBB, and across the NBA too if it was BS. He can just fall in with all the other media types who all thought none of those were ever realistic.

I am in no way saying I think any of that actually happens, but this is not some crazy sourced leak of information saying BS, SD and TJO are out lol

Nobody else has come out and said they were out of the running like Goodman did. He’s putting himself out there to look very good or very stupid

It is well-known that tweeting about Indiana is great for engagement. Everyone who covers college basketball loves tweeting about IU because it always ends up in a blockbuster tweet. People just can’t help themselves.

It’s important not to put too much stock in whatever random journalists say who don’t have close ties to the program. Goodman has good sources, but his sources are not in the IU athletic department. So there’s only so accurate his sources can be.

Rabjohns just the other day was saying he’s heard mixed things about basically every candidate. Information changes constantly and it’s difficult to verify anything. What’s true one day can become untrue the next, and vice versa.

Bottom line: nothing’s a done deal till it’s official. And we don’t actually know what’s going on. Dolson is keeping this thing locked down.

I really don't get the mccollum love given our current situation. I also don't get people seeming convinced he would win here after what we saw with archie. Are people just blinded by cig and think mccollum is cig no matter what

You have it backwards. Cig is McCollum Jr.

Before you get to Brownell.

Before you get to Turgeon

Before you get to Beard.

Will Frigin' Wade!!!

I don’t see Dolson getting involved with a former FBI subject of interest.

Couldn't Goodman got this info from those coaches agents

Simple answer, yes.  Most any leaked info on any search comes from the firm or agents throughout a search.  For various reasons, and most are selfish, yes.  Even if they have no ambition to leave it provides an opportunity to get a raise.

I agree. I don’t think McCollum is going to be the hire though

Just a couple of points

1.  I don't believe Goodman's daughter Talia is still involved with IU sports media as she's now affiliated with On3.  Certainly she would have friends, etc., but I don't believe she's nearly as close to IU as she had been.  FWIW, she does a fantastic job covering women's bball.

2.  Dolson isn't just hiring a bball coach.  He's betting his career that he makes the right choice.

3.  I also follow 247 and IMO everyone should take a grain of salt with Raby's comments.  I'm not convinced he's just not throwing stuff on 247 that he's picking up from the likes of Goodman, etc., and it's not really coming from inside IU.

Dolson = close to the vest which is another reason why I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a big name coach nobody is talking about

I wouldn’t be surprised if Iowa is going to hire McCollum in the next year or two and we will be regretting letting him get away when we had the chance

He would be really interesting up there.  I would love that hire.
