Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk From all accounts I have heard Keion is a tremendous teammate and locker room presence. I can't remember the exact UK non-conference game this season, maybe Georgia Tech?, but I recall UK taking an unexpected L where Keion didn't play, but he took the player media availability after the game and showed a great deal of leadership (the IU analog would be Joey Brunk speaking to the media after IU lost to Michigan St.) Net, I agree Keion may not fill the box score like a 5-Star Burger Boy, but he may bring in a lot of intangibles that this squad needs that CMW is looking for in year one. I will stay open-minded, and let the process play-out. IUBBx5Banners, Hoosierfanyuh and Bobman1 3 Quote
rcbowla Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 It had nothing to do with his name.....it is a well known fact that Rupp is a racist. Saying you need to do research on that is like saying you need to do research to say bob Knight had a temper Go back and read the article that had Keion's response. He blatantly said he didn't know much about it. So having an ignorant hard stance is a good thing? Disagree. Now as to whether Rupp was a racist or not I'm not going to argue that. Doesn't change the fact that his response was bad. If you don't know anything about the subject just say as much or decline to respond. If that was the case, which I do not know, but that could have been very possible. Miller looked very bad from the ISU game his first season. That could go back to Crean's days too. If I was a top 100 recruit, I would have chosen somewhere else between 2013 to about a week ago. And Calipari hadn’t been exposed when he committed there. With a caveat that it’s my ‘eye test assessment, Keion Brooks would be a huge success on next year’s IU team, especially if Race leaves. He’d be a 30 minute a game guy that would be our starter at the four. cybergates, Hoosierfanyuh, jk34 and 1 other 4 Quote

Would've been a non-issue had he said I don't know much about it or something along those lines. Or even just ending after the first part. “Being honest, I haven’t educated myself well enough on Adolph Rupp or just the whole situation at hand to really give you my thoughts on it,” said Brooks, who is also a member of the SEC Council on Racial Equality and Social Justice. “From what I do know, I would like to see a name change just basically because of what his name is and what that’s connected to and what that kind of represents. HoosierAloha Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 A kid saying he hasn’t educated himself well enough but stating “from what I do know” there needs to be a change. Sounds like more logic than what many twice his age give in response. I didn’t know much on President Jordan’s past but from what little I did know I knew he didn’t represent what Indiana University is about. Learn and inform yourselves, and draw your own conclusions. This, however is a sports message board. While issues about racism, history, and individual responsibilities matter, and many think they matter greatly, the established rules of this board dictate that this will not be the place for that discussion. From postings on this site, those that are in the portal have lost their scholarships. Players only may get scholarships if the coach approves. Do the player and/or his parents and the coach have to sign off on this (ie. commitment) ? So, let's say a player is allowed to return after entering the portal. Coach gives the player the scholarship. Then the player changes the decision...can he go back into the portal? I just wonder when Coach Woodson will draw the line. And, it may be flexible considering the decision thought process and meetings with player and parents. Heard it was today...but not sure. On a side note...hope this team jells, hits shots, plays with intensity, help each other, and wins and wins...and represents Indiana University in a very positive manner....banners galore! Quote
