FWIW, a decent number of New Mexico fans are puling for Miller to be hired there.  Rick Pitino Jr interviewed there yesterday and right now seems to be in contention for the job.

How's the buyout structured? I know any income from a new job offsets the buyout, dollar for dollar, but assume that the $10M is paid out over time ... how much per year? In other words, how much does Archie need to be paid to completely cancel out the buyout? And what happens to the excess donated funds recovered by the new job offset??

All good questions.  I'd think it gives him a good selling point for a new gig - he can ask for a low-ball couple of first years and still make the full amount.

I believe we have to keep paying him as though he's still our coach.  How we spend what's left is up to the donor.

They pay it out monthly over the rest of the contract. So evenly over the next three years.

My wife just told me that I'm in such a good mood she wishes IU could fire Archie Miller every day.  That's a good thing, right?

As a trustee in my church, we get donation offers all the time.  They almost always come with stipulations about how we can spend it.  Sometimes the stipulations are so ridiculous that we turn down the money.

I'd have to assume that the buyout money came with similar stipulations.  If there's money left, it goes to X as described by the donor.

I do not know the facts but would guess that the donors also are paying over time which means there would not be any excess funds if Archie gets a new job, which I assume he will.

I was starting to give up too. IUBB hasn’t been fun for a while. I remember commenting that even the wins are ugly and boring, and that brought derision.

Hope is marginally restored. But just to enjoy a different brand of basketball is exciting in its own right.

That was one of the key points I thought Dolson addressed in his presser --

...style of play that recruits want to play in and that recruits see that they can see themselves in, but then also is really on the cutting edge of where is basketball going, where is college basketball going, and as you can see, basketball is different than it was three years ago, four years ago, six years ago in terms of how it fits into the NBA and moving on and playing professionally.

So is Joey brunk the only player who has thanked or supported archie in any way. This is odd that more players aren't loyal to him imo.
