What coach is not constantly trying to improve the team. It's the player's responsibility to defend their position on the team. If a player truly thinks he is that good, he shouldn't fear competition. I think Jake's dad wanted Miller to recruit under him. Unfortunately, Priller had used up his eligibility. woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Chris Beard's 'track record of success' at Texas Tech entering this season was two seasons long, one of which he didn't make the NCAA or NIT tournament. Good for Chris Beard at Texas Tech for a great couple of seasons. But Bob Knight had a track record that laughs at one's like Chris Beard and he didn't make Texas Tech an attractive place to play. And if Texas Tech was such an attractive place that it brought (what is now suddenly be rewritten as) the ungodly talent of Matt Mooney, then why was Beard's recruiting class ranked 33rd last year? Why are we suddenly trying to rewrite Matt Mooney's ability? Why the need to romanticize it? In Texas Tech's three guard starting lineup, he was the third best guard behind Moretti and Culver. I am a big Butler fan and have saw him play more than enough. His better games were against low-level teams and struggled most other times in a conference that was very poor this year. I have only watched Jackson-Davis play once in New Castle against Westveiw. And it wasnt a good one. If it wasnt for a bench player that had Romeo hair, they would have lost that game. But I did see enough to know Jackson-Davis is a CENTER. He is not a 4. Davis is a center also. All 3 are centers ONLY. You can not play 2 of these 3 guys together. This team has way too many needs in other areas. 3 centers that expect playing time is not a good solution to this disaster. Ohreally 1 Quote

No official comment on what was wrong or when or if he might be available to play. Not very encouraging.A little encouraging but this is 1000% speculation. A little history of my clotting. I clotted for the first time in 2006. I couldn’t do anything for a few months. Anything includes any physical activity. I was laid up for awhile and on a heparin drip while in the hospital for the first few weeks. After those first few weeks and being released from the hospital I was on Coumadin. I still wasn’t supposed to do a lot. Zero intramural sports, no heavy lifting, no climbing anything above a few feet, no responding, no training (military), etc. After 6-8 months I was taken of Coumadin and was cleared for everything. I could resume intramural sports, hike, climb, lift, train, etc. it was a matter of bruising and bleeding while being on Coumadin. I have zero info if Hunter clotted. If he did and it’s a freak incident then he could return to being himself or better. If it’s a lasting thing (which eventually happened to me) basketball will be the least of his worries moving forward. They have developed a lot better blood thinners and have better programs available then 15 years ago. However, it’s a matter of life and death if it’s that serious and not playing a game. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets cleared for full contact sooner rather than later. If it is clots and he is cleared he’s still not out of the woods as I’m sure he’ll have multiple checkups to ensure he hasn’t clotted again. Every off season it seems not only are new recruits overhyped but we get hung up on the fact that we’ll finally have a “NBA size” lineup. I don’t see any 2 of the 3 playing that many minutes together on the floor unless a few of them develop better jumpers and get quick on defense. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app This is my take as well. Does Joey Brunk have to come in and be an all big ten player? No. Do we need a serviceable back up big man for our veteran big who is injury prone and commits 175 fouls per 3 minutes. Absolutely. I believe that TJD will end up being a big time player for us at IU, but if anyone thinks we can survive with only Davis and TJD next season at the 5 spot is crazy. We have Race, but IMO he is not a true 5, and we saw some of that in mismatches last season. We obviously have a need for a shooting guard, but the need for a big man who has seen action in a strong conference is also a huge need for this team. An Indiana kid, who plays his butt off, has seen a lot of high level D1 basketball, is a good student and will buy into the program (hopefully). Sign me up, unless there is a better option I'm just not aware of. Edited April 12, 2019 by monskisprodigy ALASKA HOOSIER, Hillsdale87, Stuhoo and 14 others 17 Quote

JaybobHoosier Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Archie is putting in a lot of work to try and get us positioned for a good upcoming season. To me, if we can get Brunk and another good shooting wing/guard that can play a quality 8+ minutes then we are in good shape. The biggest question mark as a lot of us have stated is the health of Jerome Hunter. If he’s 100% then that really gives us an all around scoring threat. I also like to think that if the doctors had determined his competitive basketball career was over due to health that this news would already have been made public. It serves no purpose to anyone to keep that kind of news under wraps. Finally, Archie seems more focused on recruiting a guard and not necessarily a replacement for Hunter's spot on the roster.
