    2026 IUFB: CHAPTER 3

"Other than one of the 3 best WRs in the portal and one of the best returning WRs in the country, and another productive/old guy coming back off an injury their WR room is young and lost everyone." We're in good shape if this is all someone can come up with.

He texted me earlier today and commented on how much he enjoyed the full body massage from a pair of scantily clad female hamsters. He told me later tonight he'll be dining on mealworms and fresh vegetables at the new Gordon Ramsay restaurant that just opened on his island paradise. He sends his best to btb and we should rest assured he'll be back in a few weeks.

  16. With how good the talent evaluation of the coaching staff has been, I expect we'll see plenty of times in the future where IU gets in early on a recruit then he blows up as far as rankings and/or other teams jumping in to recruit him. If the IU staff is interested, he is probably good. That also means we'll likely see more decommitments. This isn't a new thing for IU, although now the reasons are different.

  20. There absolutely MUST be consequences for Sorsby (or any other college football player who bets on his own team). Any way you slice it, he had to be knowledgeable enough to realize he was risking his college playing career when he made that first bet. Likely didn't bet on himself becoming worth millions and now has regret over it. He should never again play college football. An NFL team willing to risk Sorsby making more poor choices in the future is on them. I hope for the best for the young man. Hope he can learn from his mistakes, move on to a pro team who will have him, and keep things within the rules moving forward.

    2026 IUFB: CHAPTER 3

Feels like they are reaching to find weaknesses or discount what Cig can do. Fernando was a question mark going into last year and before that Rourke. I am sure we will be just fine with Josh. WR room LOL sorry but that's a reach. Guess they forgot already who Charlie Becker is and what he did when given his chance. I'd imagine our other guys will step up next season given their opportunity. The league hates we are no longer the easy win and doormat of the conference.

Wemby is appropriately called the Alien, he's completely unreal, there's never been another player like him, fluid, exceptionally skilled on and off ball, exceptional basket IQ, two-way player who can and does block anyone anywhere and then can score on anyone literally anywhere, inside and out, from the arc, on beautiful movement to and above the rim, and all while towering over everyone at 7'4 - 7'5. Closest player skill-wise imo was Tim Duncan as the "Big Fundamental" (maybe Olajuwon) but as much as I enjoyed watching Duncan play I think Wemby would leave him flat footed. Dude is hands down the best player in the League, no slight intended to Joker (Jokic).

    (2027) - Lewis Uvwo

I'm probably crazy but wouldn't a frontcourt of Lewis Uvwo and Darius Wabbington work incredibly well. Their skillsets complement each other perfectly. With Uvwo running the floor, rebounding and protecting the rim, blocking every thing in sight and Wabbington handling, dishing dimes and shooting at 6'11". Damn a man can dream. Wabbinton with the alley oop and Uvwo throws it down.

  33. You could certainly be right. But the way I look at it between the 4 and 5 spots you have 80 minutes of game time. Each guy could get at least 25 minutes and you rotate them to keep them fresh and out of foul trouble. Plus you get national exposure and play great competition in the Big Ten. And you sell them on Ryan Carr's NBA connections. May not work but sure hope so.

The only thing that gives me hope for him is he's been taking care of his body/legs militantly for as long as he's known he's an alien. I remember reading or watching something about how his team takes care of his lower body and it's a full time job. Even if all that works for an extended period, I can't see this going past 30. Which would be unfortunate because watching him hate-dominate the Thunder last night was quite the experience.

This might be, no kidding, the greatest play I’ve ever seen. He makes up 12’ from the time SGA picks up the dribble to the time it leaves his hand. Speechless. 1 of 1 is a wildly overused term, but here literally no one else in the history of the world makes that play. The combination of length, movement and processing is simply unique. And the announcers barely notice because the dude is such a freak.

  41. I'm confident Sherrell, Burton and Mustaf start. I feel pretty confident Karvala will be in the rotation at the 3 beh8nd Mustaf. Probably pretty likely Yigitoglu starts and at some point early in each half a rotation at the 5 will start between he and Sherrell. Sisley will be the 4 in the majority of those minutes. Could be some looks with Mustaf at the 4, Harris the 3 and Burton the point. You can visualize a pretty nice situation.
    1 point
  42. Agree. I’ve mentioned that somewhere in these threads…lol…but have shied away from speculating because we just don’t have a ton to go on. It’s also why I’m pretty convinced that they won’t play two bigs 30+mpg, largely because Devries never has. I could go down each player and list some major question marks. Ultimately, I think the bullish case for the season is on Burton becoming more of a shot creator than shot-maker. But that’ll all come down to coaching. After Woody everyone wanted a career college guy who is good with Xs and Os and grinded his way up. That’s Devries. We’re about to see how well he can “coach ‘em up” because the aggregate talent is there.
    1 point
  43. Even objective measures suggest the roster is talented. The real question, and what will ultimately determine his fate, is whether he can get that talent to function effectively within a system.
    1 point
  44. Sherrell started and played in every Alabama game last year. He played 24mpg and was regularly playing 27-30mpg by the end of the year. Yigi played 29mpg and started in all 34 SMU games. Why would the staff spend significant money and resources on a scenario where those guys don’t play 27-30mpg, when that’s exactly what they’ve done in the past and will do in the future? Your backup 5 is your starting 4. And your backup 1 is your starting 2. When Sherrell and Lindsey slide over to their secondary roles it opens a whole bunch of minutes up at the 2-4 positions. Those are all likely perimeter positions for Devries. So 3 of Harris, Sisley, and the 3 frosh need to find 18-20mpg there. If you can’t go 3/5 on scouting there most years, then you can’t coach at this level.
    1 point
  45. Only one freshman needs to get on the court consistently to have an 8 man rotation. Hitting on 1 out 3 top 100 recruits isn’t asking much. A rising-soph Sisley was kept over Dorn and Miles who did play at the end of the year. Even with NIL college basketball is still run on recruiting and scouting. Coaches who can’t do that consistently aren’t long for the world. If Devries screwed it up two years in a row, we’ll have a pretty good idea about his fate.
