I see now that we can't argue about player quality, we are now arguing about who gets the most credit for the quality players we are getting. At least its a change of pace.

Everyone agrees DDV should've been able to come in and assemble a staff quicker for the most part. Fact is, not being fully staffed likely explains most of why we assembled the lackluster roster that we did. Looks like he has owned his mistakes, not made excuses, and set out to correct them. For that, we can all be thankful.

Looks like Rancik cancelled his IU visit according to On3. My feeling is that the Sherrell commit is imminent and the starting front court is set. Rancik was probably looking for a starting role and that’s unlikely to happen here.

We scour every place imaginable for tidbits of info on players we're recruiting and post every update and crystal ball prediction we find. And then Samet yesterday and Lindsay today. Kinda fun to have the names just pop up out of nowhere. This year's portal recruiting almost resembles a military campaign in how it's been managed and executed.

Wow what a successful offseason

Obviously Michigan was led by their "Big 4" of Yaxel, Johnson, Mara and Cadeau. But what I felt took them from good to great was the other 4 main guys around them. McKinney, Cason, Burnett and Gayle, Jr. Those were legit power conference role players. Replace those guys with Enright, Dorn, Miles and Bailey and Michigan isn't winning a title. All that to say, of Sherrill commits we have at least 3 (Burton, Sherrill and the Turkish big) of our lead guys. Question on how good we'll be is whether we can add another "lead" guy and then our role players are Mustafa, Harris and fill in a couple more (maybe Moody)? Can we get one more "guy", or are we starting both Mustafa and Harris. Can we push Harris to a shooter off the bench role? Great start, lots to still figure out.

Mostly agree, but the HC is accountable for assembling the roster at the end of the day, all due credit to Carr (and he deserves a ton of credit for the obviously improved approach). I think it's a lot to ask for a mostly 2-man operation at a new school to assemble a great roster from scratch in a short period of time in a hyper competitive market. We agree he shouldn't have put himself in that situation. Luckily looks like this is mostly water under the bridge assuming the portal class shapes up close to how it seems it will. And you are right, probably best for him to focus on coaching. I'd like to see us with our first sub-10 loss season in 11 years.
