My opinion is that bringing Tino back in any capacity would undermine Whitmer in his role as QB coach. Just no good reason to take that risk. Tino will land on his feet and Cig can be instrumental in helping him do just that. - but elsewhere.8 points -

Because he was getting a promotion and the opportunity to live in Southern California as a young newlywed making millions of dollars. Why expect sycophantic loyalty from coaches? He'd been with Cig since 2021 and by all accounts left on good terms. If Cig doesn't see it as Tino "didn't want to be part of the Cig movement" seems kind of silly for fans to, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.6 points -

Dittos, these guys are are better than 95% of CFB pods. They know ball, they know how to podcast, and they don't get emotional and biased. Two other things were nice to hear: 1) They said that was about as good as Kinnick gets in terms of atmosphere. There aren't many places harder to go than Kinnick. Great experience for our team. 2) They were more or less claiming a few moral victories: played us close, made Cig sweat, got Mendoza a bit uncomfortable. That put a big smile on my face -- it's been a very long time since someone took some moral victories in a loss against us.4 points -

I get the sentiment, but we don’t need two QB coaches nor can we afford it. Whitmer makes $800K plus bonuses so he can handle all the QB duties. I’d guess Tino will find an OC or QB coach co-OC job somewhere else. He’ll be fine, I’d guess most of his ~$1M/yr two year deal with UCLA will be paid out.3 points -

going to disagree with you there. strength training doesn't just increase muscle, but also tendon strength and bone density. The more likely factor is these kids have the same amount of milage on their bodies as nba vets from 20 years ago and the fact that kids are specializing in sports as early as 10 years old and not developing any sort of movement patterns outside of their sport, strengthening tendons in other directions.3 points -

I don't have a problem using the hand motion from the guard spot but timing the snap differently from play to play would help. Coogan snapped it immediately every time and Iowa was getting off the ball way too quickly because of it.2 points -

One thing that I've read needs some fixing for this game is our gosh darn dagnabbit silent count. I guess Iowa figured it out to some extent (we use a hand motion), which was a pretty big problem. I love this staff, but we've had this issue before, it shouldn't be an issue, and I never want to hear about silent count issues again. Also, per the presser Cig said they didn't let Fernando audible at Iowa due to crowd noise. I'm sure he knows best, it's just a little odd to me since Fernando is a very capable QB. Anyways, I'm not trying to second guess this fantastic coaching staff, I know 0.001% about football compared to them, I just find this stuff surprising. I'm sure the silent count issues are known and will be fixed going into Autzen.2 points -

I’m always rooting for our squads and our individual players. I thought Lamendola was eventually going to be a fan favorite. Never panned out. Garzon had an edge. Unsure which players bonded with her. Pretty much a Trust in Moren situation at all times for me. She’s been knocked by some since the early days for transfers but she’s about culture and fit and that’s very important. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app2 points -

The following is a series of tweets with quotes from CTM from Michael Nizieolek from an informal media day session. "We only have four returners, rest are new faces, it's been an exciting summer for us, we've gotten off to a fairly decent start from an official practice start..." she adds they are probably playing more kids than in the past "We have interesting pieces....we are more athletic than we were a year ago" "Yes, we got more athletic, but I think the jury is still out if we can be as efficient as we've become accustomed to from the outside" "Are they high character? Are they a winner?" characteristics she looks for from players on the recruiting trail, "we are excited about the '26 class we put together" "There's intention behind how we build our roster" Indiana women's basketball coach Teri Moren says her staff spoke with the football team about revenue-share and how they establish positional values/distribute money," "A year ago our locker room wasn't in great shape...." says its better now, "we are all in alignment with the goals, values and what the standards are" and Lenee Beaumont is really taking charge of that." Indiana women’s basketball will be sending Shay Ciezki and Lenée Beaumont to B1G Media Days next week.2 points -

I'd guess it works like this: B1G gets $2B now (~$110M per school). In exchange the investor gets some portion of future B1G media rights, sponsorships, licensing, etc. such that they get a return on their investment. Basically, more money for the conference now and less later. Is that a good deal? I have no idea, would depend on the all the deal specifics and what the next media deal looks like blah blah blah. One part of this I definitely like is this would extend the B1G grant of rights through 2046, which keeps the conference together for a long time and reduces the chances of the big football schools forming some "super league." Though personally I never thought that was likely. Whatever happens, the B1G is a good place to be. Fire up that stadium renovation Scott!1 point -

I’ll get fired up and predict IU by 50 when we’re closer to game time, but for now I’m not too optimistic about this one and it’s entirely because of how Cig and Shanahan have treated tough away games back to their JMU days. Playing conservative and vanilla on offense will not work against Dan Lanning. I hope they break their tendency and come out guns blazing. (Hoosiers by 50, however)1 point -

Watching her on film I'm thinking she may be the best recruit we've ever landed and could be underrated. Super quick and has a nice crossover allowing he to get to the rim. Good length and instincts so she could be a menace on the defensive side.1 point
