Look at it this way: Suckeyes win and the SEC can indeed shut it. Tennessee wins and we can see if they plant a flag in the Horseshoe before it becomes a felony. Home Jersey Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 On the bright side, nice of SMU to do us a solid and get embarrassed way worse than us. RoadRage, IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy, monskisprodigy and 4 others 5 2 Quote

Which I will enjoy. IU was fine. We deserved to be there. Lost to a more talented team on the road. I’d probably prefer to see more sec losses. If ND beats uga and by any margin at all it can be the nail in the coffin of the narrative that IU or any big ten team didn’t belong. The acc is another story. Quote
8bucks Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 After watching today’s games, I feel a little better. Road games are tough. It seems our defense, despite a ton of missed tackles, deserved to be in the playoffs. Our offense had a great year but collectively the offense came up short in the big games. Halfway there. southsidehoosier 1 Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 It feels like if they want these first round playoff games to be good games with potential for occasional upsets, they’re going to have to start playing on neutral sites. J34 and Banksyrules 2 Quote

I thought our defense showed up all year and more than held their own. With a similar offense we could have won every game we played. Need to be bigger, stronger, and faster on the offensive side. Especially on the o line. 8bucks and theriverpilot 2 Quote

Totally agree. Think that’s the most obvious change, but would take the committee conceding that conference championships don’t mean anything anymore which they probably aren’t ready to do because of the money involved. But I think a SMU/ASU and Boise State/IU game, for the right to play Penn state or Texas, would have been better television and competition than the current setup provided. cthomas and LIHoosier 2 Quote
go iu bb Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Clemson within 7 with over 11 minutes remaining. Edit: Then gives up a 77 yard TD run. /sigh Quote
Artie86 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Can someone please tell me how getting beat 27-17 is a blowout? I mean, yes, it was 24 points late, but we never quit and ended up getting it to a 10 point loss. I’m so sick of these game announcers keep comparing IU and SMU in the same sentence as “both blowouts”! Yes, SMU was blown out by 28 points, but not IU! theriverpilot, go iu bb, cthomas and 1 other 3 1 Quote
DChoosier Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 The announcers and pundits keep blabbering about games that aren’t close but….HELLO, there were plenty of blowouts when it was just a 4 team playoff. They keep acting as if such a thing has never happened and that blowouts are proof of a non-existent problem. Alford Bailey and go iu bb 2 Quote

They’re petulant children who are throwing tantrums because their baby Alabama didn’t get into the playoff. Blowouts are absolutely nothing new in the playoffs. But because we aren’t a football brand, our ”blowout” is a referendum on our worthiness Artie86 1 Quote
