Check out the replies. I tend to agree that it was pretty badly officiated. But, strangest thing, not 1 mention of their freshman guards flat collapsing and what that might portend for a tournament run. If I were them, THAT’s what I’d be worried about.

Edey is a lousy passer.

If he catches deep it doesn’t matter. You’re already cooked.

But NW just provided the blueprint for doubling him as quickly as possible every time he catches more than five feet from the rim.

because Purdue has quite literally not one player on the roster that can finish at the rim when they cut and catch a pass from Edey

Yep and man I wish we had a healthy X as it would be great to see X and JHS press the PU guards.

On the officiating....meh.  Purdue got to the line 24 times, Northwestern 20.  17 fouls each side.  Edey had 13 free throws.

I’ve been telling people all along, you can’t win in the NCAA tournament with freshman guard play.  Teams will figure out how to defense them and that started with IU and now NW expanded on that and now the blueprint has been established.  Purdue isn’t as good as there ranking.  It’s easy for their guards to throw it down to a 7-4 giant but once teams figure out how to defend him and pressure those two freshman guards, Purdue doesn’t have the same supporting cast to pick up the slack
