He was a big recruit for Miami back in 2020-21, barely saw the field with them, went to Akron in 2023, redshirted then played half of the next season, spent the last year as a starter at WKU where he got a ton of recognition. He definitely checks the proven production box and would be a huge pickup if he met CCC's standards otherwise.

This happens to be one of my favorite subjects.   I was very young in 1975.  I do remember exactly where I was when Indiana lost to Kentucky, and I sort of knew what it meant.   The following year, the morning after Indiana won the title, I cried...saying my private goodbye to the seniors on that team who had become my heroes.    By the time Indiana became "THAT" good, the expectations were there.  And Indiana had won a title just 23 years prior. (to put that in perspective, it has been 1 season longer than that since IU last went to the final four.  That thought blows me away)  Winning was not "expected" before Bob Knight's arrival; however it was not as foreign as it has been to football.  Then?  He did arrive.  And....

Assembly Hall by 1976 had a "feel."  A smell.  A sound.  Certainly through the 1970's and 1980's, winning was a habit and every song the band played was predictable and familiar.  The banners swayed from side to side, then hung on what amounted to a clothes line.  Winning was expected, as was being in the Big Ten championship conversation.  When Indiana was REALLY good, we all knew it and it wasn't ever unexpected.  Winning it was a time or two, but we only had ~ 48 hours to absorb it once we made the final game.  During the NCAA tournament, to win it, a team plays 6 games over 18 days or 2 1/2 weeks.  Football?  3 games in 44 days (6 weeks).  Lots more time between games to pontificate and anticipate.  Add to it the uniqueness and unexpected nature of this over the last 25 months; AND the transfer portal at the same time, my personal opinion is this is FAR more exciting if only because it's so unbelievable.  Maybe it's just more surreal with football now.   More "drastic" in contrast to "what was," and definitely more immediate.  More absolute.  More obvious.

Had a friend that wrote for Clark for a couple years.  He asked me to keep stats at the ABCD camp at Princeton, which was the showcase recruiting event back then.  Incredible week- that was the class of rising seniors with the Fab 5, Alan, Big Dog, on and on.  But the best player that week was a rising junior named Jason Kidd.  Also, it took a while to get Clark to reimburse my expenses…

But yeah, a combo of Street & Smiths, Hoop Scoop and Donna’s annual Hoosier Mag was how you guessed who IU was recruiting.  Basically any good player in IN, IL, and OH was a possibility.

I don't remember the 75 & 76 seasons, but I do remember the 81 & 87 Championship.  I remember where I was for both and what the feeling was like.  I remember my mom maid a cake for the 87 game with all the players names on it.  We didn't touch it until the final horn blew.  I remember going out that evening (Yes very late) to see who was celebrating.  It had snowed that day and I was thinking man I hope we still have school the next day because I wanted to see all my friends and talk about it.  Older now but the feeling with the football team is similar for me with my kids and grandkids now.  I have watched the games with my son, and he makes sure to let his boy see what is going on.  He is very young right now and his attention drifts during the games, but my hope is he can remember these days when he gets older.  I wish we could get our basketball team on track but man this football team sure has grabbed my attention the last two years.  I will say we have always watched and went to see games, but it just feels different now.

Indiana WR Tyler Morris will be back at IU next season and expects to be full go for spring camp, he tells me. Morris, a Michigan transfer, is coming off an ACL tear suffered last spring. He jumped back into practice the week before the Rose Bowl.

That’s a big deal. Should be a currently underrated, yet featured player next season.

Becker, Marsh, Preston, Morris, + hopefully Chandler or Bond develop into something special.

We could yet again have one of the best receiver rooms in the country.

Our current guys do a lot of things extremely well but I still can’t get over how they catch seemingly every single pass they get their hands (or fingertips) on. Mendoza throws a great ball but holy sh!t his receivers win the 50/50 balls, catch the slightly off target balls, etc etc. Fun to watch.

Strong hands.  Better than a lot of pros you see on Sunday, that's for sure.
