cthomas Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 The defense needs to stay elite. The balance we have has been impressive. I don't want to get into shootout situations with teams, even though I would like our odds. I get hung up on that old adage that defense wins championships. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Hoosier987 Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 Re. Wyatt. It didn’t sound like Cig completely shut the door for a return this season. Big Ten championship game is 7 weeks away. He walked off on his own power. I wouldn’t completely rule out a return for PU, BT champ game if we make it there. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery. CSP, cthomas, mike vannice and 2 others 5 Quote

Honestly, no clue. If I had to guess, he's probably going to get red shirted. Losing Wyatt is a big hit. I'm assuming they'll work something out though. I trust the the staff enough that they'll have a decent game plan to fill that void. It might not even be at Wyatt's position filling the void if that makes sense. My personal opinion is we'll get a fresh dose of Stephen Daley. He had 2 sacks against MSU and is probably the best fit for the position. He had a good statistical game against Iowa as well. Regardless, the front 7 will be creative just like they've been all season. Quote
Lebowski Posted October 21, 2025 Author Posted October 21, 2025 Game 7 in the books. IUFB 38 MSU 13 Spittoon stays put. The Nandolorian probably looked his best I've seen all year. Definitely will be playing on Sundays. Next game: The 3 game turnaround UCLA Bruins MemphisHoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
Hovadipo Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 I don't know enough about the defense to know which position is "harder" to play, but my bet would be that Kamara is placed there - whether that be staying where he is now or the position he played last season - and the hole he leaves is then filled. Someone has to step up either way, but it's nice knowing 6 has experience at his current and Wyatt's positions. Lebowski 1 Quote

The staff will figure something out for sure. And they'll place the players at the right positions to get production. Hovadipo and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Magnanimous Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 (Getting way ahead of myself), if we do play OSU this season I think it would be to our benefit to wear these and psych them out. VPC, Hollywood Mike Miranda, Josh and 2 others 5 Quote

Yes. Probably a lot of potential targets to be honest. He's probably just letting everyone know from his neck of the woods that there's something special going on in the 812 area. And there is. But keep in mind, the staff has a 4 hour drive radius approach first and foremost. Stuhoo, Home Jersey and MemphisHoosier 3 Quote

DChoosier Posted October 26, 2025 Posted October 26, 2025 We play AT Penn State. In their last game Penn State was leading , at the beginning of the 4th quarter, at Iowa and ended up losing by just a point. Not shabby. I think we will beat PSU but the amount of press making it sound like a pre-ordained cake walk seems a bit crazy to me. MemphisHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER and cthomas 3 Quote
MemphisHoosier Posted October 26, 2025 Posted October 26, 2025 With four games left I took a stab at Redshirt status & eligibility for the team. The main takeaway, and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has watched this staff, is that very few freshmen are on track to burn this year of eligibility, the staff has been strategic on putting younger players in position to gain experience & exposure. Group I - Have Exceeded the 4 game threshold Sr. - Sarratt, Brady, Staes, Wyatt, Daley, Fisher, McCarthy Jr. - Ponds, Ferrell So.- Becker, Nduckwe, Landino, Hardy Fr. - Bond and Jaylen Bell Group II - Played 2-3 games, worth monitoring Fr. - Wilkin (2 games) and Reese (3 games) Group III - Played 0-1 games, On-Track to RS for the '25 season Sr. - Tyler Morris (Injured) Fr. - Jacob Bell, Cuono (1 gm), Chandler (1 gm), Kendrick, Thiry, Barker (1 gm), Parker, Marek (1 gm), Calhoun, Burrus Jr., Abram, Hall, Garcia (1 gm), Nelson (1 gm), Amari Kamari, Zacharey Smith, Seaonta Stewart, Byron Baldwin (1 gm)* *Baldwin saw his first action of the year against UCLA, I fully expect him to see the field the rest of the season Pagoda 1 Quote
