Anyone who doesn't like the hire want to make a friendly wager?

O/U 22.5 wins in year 1? 23.5?

He was with Creighton from 2001-2018. That's when Dana Altman got it rolling through McDermott's first 6 seasons.

He knows how to build a winning culture. He's got a talented son and players coming with him. Head start on portal.

We got ourselves a weapon and gave him all the ammo he could ask for.

Under on 22.5. This program has to fight, scratch and claw its way to 20 wins every year now. No reason to think next year will be any different.

He’d have to apply for a hardship waiver, same thing Goode is doing. He played in his first 16 games as a freshman before getting hurt. Doesn’t qualify for a medical redshirt.

It actually wasn't the first 16.  He had a stop and start year with injuries.  SOme of the games were in the second half of the year.

Dude we have won 23+ games 7 times in 32 years.  I am sorry, but Brad Stevens doesn’t instantly have me saying things like this at IU.

This hire is about as exciting as missing the March Madness Tournament.

Solid coaching experience.  Knowledgeable and son is successful player…..Ok hire.  All this mystery for the last month for this.

By the way Brad Stevens knows what he’s got with Boston.  No dummy.

Most IU fans will talk themselves into this is a home run.  Lol…..It has potential (and should have considering NIL)

I’m talking UK. They went 10-8 in conference this year…..I was told to link an article to Pope hiring. That does nothing as UK had a pretty **** year overall. If yall are good with mediocre, which it appears many of you are, let’s do it.

Silly. UK is 14th in NET this year. If you think that’s bad, that’s a you problem.

In a group text with guys from several other BigTen schools, some who played at IL and Purdue. Getting absolutely cooked for this hire. Anybody got a comeback for me? What a kick in the nuts man….

It seems to me like when West Virginia hired Beilein years ago. Not an immediately apparent winner. But was able to turn into that. About the same age as when WVU hired Beilein; IU has top-level resources. But I think we'll have to get cooked for a bit, PR-wise...

Comparing a A-10 team to a Big 12 team.  Bold strategy I would think the competition might be a little stronger in a league that got 8 teams in the field and most will argue should have got 9.   WV was in 100 percent of the brackets submitted

Not a single good season. Finished 53 this year. .500 in conference. Has above average Nil to spend on this years team.

Nothing matters until he wins or loses. You love it. I don’t. I’m getting a slew of negative reaction texts from my Indiana peeps.

Indiana had a chance to once again prove they mean business and didn’t do it. Wins will build it if he can’t be he’s never had a season to prove he can make Indiana fans happy.

Will he recruit the state better than the next guy? Nil only goes so far. Baffling move. Let it ride on gut instincts. Even Dolson’s opening statement is mild.

Scott’s @$$ is solidly on the hook for this. In 3 years we will likely have a fire Devries AND a fire Scott thread running concurrently. Time to hit the gym and get some of this anger out. Just a total cluster **** yet again from our administration.

I wouldn’t go that far but definitely not getting too excited about this. But look at the bright side WV was the first team out this year we were the second moving on up one step at a time.
