Mendoza had, at least, 6 runs of 15+ this season.... Rourke had 0. Mendoza also had a 50 yard run against Stanford where he looks flat out fast, Rourke's long was 12.

any idea how many rourke had in 2022/23?  He seemed to be more mobile before the injury. I prefer a dual threat especially if their accuracy is near 70%

looking at those highlights you would think he would have a lot of rushing yards but Rourke had about twice as many in 2022 and again in 2023.  Mendoza seems quicker and his accuracy near 70%. He seems like he could be a good fit but one that TJ might also be able to compete with for that role.

I think Kurtis was a LOT more mobile before his knee injury and Ohio seemed to use it. He ran for almost 800 yards there, and still went for about 20 yards a game after the injury. We just didn't scheme up any running for him this season.

This is the most important off-season in IU Football history.  We need to upgrade talent so we can compete with the boys.

If we want to make it back to the playoffs next year we have no choice but to win all the games that we are favored but to win 1 on the road we won’t be favored.

But really anything less than 10-2 will be a backslide. We have to prove them wrong and sustain the success.

So far I like what I am seeing. But as we have learned in basketball.  You can be in the mix for 50 top recruits and it doesn’t matter. You gotta land. Them fingers crossed

Couldn’t agree more! Been kinda anxious about our performance in the portal so far.

We already have a lot of key players returning next year. If we can fill the holes with some solid players, there’s no reason to believe we can’t be better next year.

No, no, not buying that they’ve contacted  “Fluff Bothwell”. Next we’ll be talking about App St LB “Ben Dover” and our interest in Pepperdine QB “Jack Meoff.”

If it makes you feel any better, Fluff is anything but. This was taken when he was in high school.

Not really trying to argue your point but I'd say 9-3 with our schedule next year would still be a fantastic season. We would still be in the cfp top 25 and momentum would continue. Technically you are correct that less than 10-2 would be a backslide but it's also not realistic, right now, for us to expect IU in the playoffs with 10-2 or better every year. We can get there though.

Yeah it would be a pretty good season. But that would still be a backslide. And a 9-3 record would mean no signature wins in yet another season.  Barring a signature win and dropping a winnable game canceling each other out.

Question about Mendoza. He has pretty impressive numbers and can run but I saw he got sacked 41 times (over 3.5/game). Was his line just that bad? Or were there QB sneaks that didn't go anywhere that just counted as sacks instead of runs for some reason? Is he just not good at avoiding the rush?

For that completion percentage and possibly with a bad line, were a ton of his throws short? Did he throw many bombs?

I haven't watched any Cal which is why I ask. Great numbers and a big guy so I hope IU can land him.

I don’t think Cal had a good line, one of their bigger issues this season. Was highly inconsistent and inexperienced. Plus, I’m pretty sure they had 2 experienced starters out for most of the season. Several Cal articles complaining about the offensive line to back that up.

From what I gathered from the CFB reddit; both the O-Line and WR room were a total mess all year (not sure if injuries or talent issues).  They were all very upset to be losing Mendoza, which is typically a great sign.
