So, we're 5-0 for the first time since the 60s. Next game is Northwestern, which should make us 6-0.

Looking ahead a little bit...

  • Northwestern - W
  • Nebraska - let's call it a push, but I think this could be a similar win to Maryland.
  • Washington - push
  • Michigan State - push (I like our chances fairly well for some reason)
  • Michigan - project an L but won't be surprised if we keep it close
  • Ohio State - L
  • Purdue - W

Of the 3 push games, let's say they only win 1 and lose to Michigan and Ohio State. 8-4 would not be too shabby.

If they drop all 3 push games, 7-5 is still a more than decent year 1. Compare that to Deion at CU last year.

It's not likely at all, but not totally outside the realm of possibility that this ends up as a 9-3, 10-2 season. Maybe better?

Call me greedy, delusional, whatever lol. Let's punch our ticket to the CFP

Only remaining game that I don’t automatically think “we should probably win that” is OSU. Northwestern and Michigan State blow. Purdue is AWFUL. Michigan stinks. Nebraska and Washington are tough but we’ll have a very real home field advantage. I don’t even feel like a homer saying there’s a path to 11 and the floor is probably 9. Unbelievable.

October hasnt begun and a win makes us bowl eligible.

Can you believe this?

So is anyone thinking that we could be undefeated, 9-0 going into the Michigan game?

We're currently 5-0. Our next four games are winnable, IMO - obviously some moreso than others:

@ Northwestern
v Nebraska
v Washington
@ Michigan State

It's not out of the question that Cig's boys could be 9-0 with a break or two along the way.

EDIT: I had not seen Home Jersey's post before I posted this.

Would love, love, love to beat Northwestern next week on that pontoon boat of a stadium, then let that 6-0 start marinade through our open week as the excitement builds up for a 50,000-plus crowd against the Cornshuckers.

When you've stunk for soooo long, why not dream a little?

We can legitimately compete with everyone left on the schedule except OSU. This is the real deal. CCC has definitely changed the culture.

I think IU will show up and COMPETE. Whether they win, who knows, if it’s likely, great. They have the right mentality and that’s what Cig brings. They expect it.

I doubt IU gets ranked. Not enough teams to fall out. OK St maybe but they'll be replaced by Kentucky

I bet Cig wouldn’t mind not being ranked this week. Bulletin board material for Northwestern, who we should not overlook. Have we ever started 6-0? I assume enough teams will have fallen out after another week. So if we take care of business, it should happen then. And that ought to pay off on the recruiting trail… serious change in year 1. Everything Deion was hyped to be at CU last year

Edit: Louisville lost last night too

I like our chances vs. OSU better this year, especially since we are playing them late in the BIGTEN season…. Playing them at the horse shoe is going to be daunting….

but, you know what they say about IU and daunted…. Coach Cignetti will definitely have them up and competing in this game.

I would imagine the spread on this game will be the lowest it has ever been in decades!
GO IU!

25. Indiana (Last week: Unranked)

The Hoosiers, which should’ve been ranked last week but haven’t been inside the AP Poll since 2021, is 5-0 for the first time in 57 yards after they manhandled Maryland 42-28. Curt Cignetti’s team actually left all sorts of points on the field with some sloppy turnovers (two fumbles, two picks), but transfer quarterback Kurtis Rourke threw for a season-high 359 yards and three scores and the Hoosiers’ defense had three stops on fourth down in the second half to move to 2-0 in Big Ten play.

I think we’ll jump three spots to 24. We’ll pass OK St, Illinois, and Washington State
