Pretty bummed for us and Luke on this decision.  I thought he had a great chance. Sounds like the NCAA decided to have a backbone on some of these decisions.

Ristic occupies the Leal/Goode spot, so it wasn’t largely a position of need however Goode had been there/done that.

Fingers crossed for Reed Baileys health.  And our prospects at the 5.

Probably too late to get any kind of a difference maker at this point.

I wonder if DeVries will take a look at Ristic's U-20 Serbian team mate 6'7" forward Pavle Nikolic.  Jon Chepakevich (director of scouting for Draft Express.com said that Nikolic looked like a high major talent in Serbia's win over France (he put up 21 and 10 and is averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds in this year's FIBA tournament;  last year at age 18 he played in the FIBA tournament for Serbia's U20 team and averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds).

Wasn’t aware of that,

I think it was part of the reason that IU was optimistic about Goode getting his waiver -- especially since Agobhor received his waiver all the way back in the beginning of May.

Hopefully the staff knew this was a realistic possibility and was prepared for it. I know previous regimes wouldn't have been.

I don’t think Goode is some astronomical loss. It’s the opportunity loss that is bigger. We could’ve forked over another mil + (the money Goode and Leal would’ve gotten) to have scored a stud or at the very least, additional depth. Instead we gain nothing. It feels like we’ve left NIL money on the table.

Bummed he isn't suing as was hinted at.  I'd like the dumb eligibility rules struck down.

It would be pretty easy for them to get a prelim injunction, I’d bet.  But it would likely tie up the scholly until the season starts. This way CDD can try and take a flier on someone.

I feel bad for Goode though.

I'd love for Goode to have a real season here, but I'm in different to him actually being on the team.

I just find the basketball eligibility rules to be exceptionally arbitrary compared to something like Football.

If it's even a current picture.  Not saying it isn't, but in today's world, pretty easy to find stuff and post it and let the general public assume it's current and factual.

Makes me no difference one way or the other.  His playing days are over here.  I wish him well in his future endeavors.

It’s from a video posted yesterday afternoon by the Illinois bball strength coach (and then shared by Goode).

Looks like he switched sides when IU got this thing turned around…
