Not dodging anything. Minutes were declining. Played less than 10 minutes per game all of January. Which was noticeably less than non con. Injury said to have occurred feb 11. If the DNP were injury related, that’s fine, but coaching staff was giving those minutes away before the injury and team success wasn’t going to give them back.

What vision were you looking for out of a 15 mpg depth piece?

Idk. He’s a undersized center. Doesn’t really have stretch 4 potential. The B1G isn’t kind to undersized centers imo. The Greek kid as a stretch 4. Then get 2 Centers. Miller and Curtis. Or Miller and Federico. I wish we could have recruited a better 5 overall, however Bailey might be the starting 5 in which case it changes some things. I also realize only about 9-10 will play and Alexis might not be one of those guys. In which case it doesn’t matter. I feel that way about a couple of our additions.

Playing 13 or so minutes per game in non-conference games and then 10 minutes per game in conference is VERY common for a player coming off the bench......bench players play more minutes per game in blow outs than not.

I agree, in a big picture lens. 

But realistically I don't think this team will start in the top 25 this season based on the unknown factor. None of these guys have played college ball together besides DeVries and Enright, and the majority of them yet to play Power 4 conference basketball. Coach has coached one season at that level. There may be a few brave ones out there, but most of the people contributing to the rank system aren't putting their name on an unknown product. Earn it, they will. 

That sounds like a negative take from me, but it's just facts and I believe the majority outside of Indiana will have a negative interpretation of that. I do not. I like and believe in what Coach is putting together because he knows how he's going to use it within the modern college game. I believe this can be a Top 25 team and it will be that much more rewarding when they make people take notice.

Funny to read two weeks ago: “Will we be able to fill out a roster” to now reading “we’re running out of roster spots for bigs”.

The sky is always falling for some people.

 

Overall liking what coach is doing so far. Love that we head into a season excited about our shooting prowess. Still confident that coach is going to round out the roster nicely over the next few weeks.

I think most fans are expecting a tournament team, not necessarily an overhyped preseason team. And given our recent record, most shouldn’t really care about preseason prognostications. I don’t recall everyone getting hype about what Kelsey was building at UofL last season, they only got hype once the games were played.

I’d rather be top 25 at the end of the season, than at the beginning of the season.

Uh...DDV has zero players coming back from last year's roster. Of course he's going to have to "earn" a top 25 ranking. 

He's not going to get it based on last year's players or finish. 

If IU wins, the rankings and tournament will take care of themselves. I don't know why anyone would worry about preseason rankings at this point. Yes, they can be helpful, but he has zero returning players. LOL
