Yes, there are very few portal commits right now.  Just having Tucker DeVries (I get he may not be official, but he is 100% IU) puts us ahead of most schools right now.

Forget the number 8.  Still got a bunch of teams playing.

I can only guess, but probably not a lot, at least the good players — these programs are obviously doing well and most of them have healthy resources to keep their key guys.

So Owen Freeman committed to Creighton yesterday but Josh Dix didn’t butttt with Pop Isaacs entering the portal I think Dix probably commits soon to Creighton. If we can get either/or  I’d be very happy with that start

Creighton, Kansas and a return to Iowa probably top tier.  Nebraska, Illinois in the mix as well according to the Iowa premium boards.   Creighton just spent a ton on Freeman so might not have the funds for both

I remember we were all a little nuts after McNeeley de-committed.  we were stuck with Woody and we needed players.  Those players came and we will get some new guys this year.    Good news though, Woody is gone and we will get a team again this year.  With our NIL we will be cooking!

Not sure how much proximity matters to Dix, but if so, Creighton is 20 mins away, KU is around 3hrs, IU is 10.

The only point I was making is that as these players are announcing that they are going into the portal and a list of schools that have shown interest is published, IU has not been listed on any of them. I guess I'm just not used to that. I honestly don't care when we get players signed if they are the right ones. I mean, Woodson was all over every portal announcement, and that got us nowhere, so I agree that I'll need to show some patience....

DDV's first days were spent notifying most of the current team and staff their services were no longer required.  Also no doubt spent time lining up his staff and doing interviews and podcasts.  Patience young grasshopper.  This is only day #4 the portal has been officially open.

I was thinking this just last night. I follow a lot of college folk on X, On3 has been busy with portal stuff the past few days. I kept thinking to myself...IU isn't appearing on any lists yet...should I be worried? Of course not, because last year, it appeared we just  threw $$$ at the top "ranked" portal targets and appeared on nearly every list. 

I'm just excited to watch us play hard nosed D and shoot 17-25 3's a game. Hopefully we make a couple haha

sorry if anyone in here works at the NCAA, but that organization is an absolute joke. 

That is an excellent point. I was concentrating so hard on basketball I didn't stop to think about the football rules. No way they would win a lawsuit.
