I think he got in the ground floor on Wendy's, bought a bunch of franchises before Wendy's was a household brand -- then sold them for massive profits.

Yes. Owned several hundred Wendy’s and Chili’s as part of his food conglomerate. His company was also the bottler for Coca-Cola. Worth more than half a billion.

Last I saw, Dusty’s team of veteran players couldn’t beat an undermanned Northwestern team and looked horribly coached at crucial moments.

It will take him some time to get his players. Don’t think this will happen right away at least

So his team of players recruited to play in the Atlantic Sun Conference took the 3rd best B1G team to overtime?

Man I wonder what he could do with high major caliber talent.

Hopefully coach them up better than he did with this team

And Northwestern may have been the 3rd best team in the conference but they were missing two starters

So reading the interwebs the last hour, seems the consensus from U of L fans is that they dodged a bullet and the few talking heads I follow from Michigan feel pretty underwhelmed with the hire. That’s a pretty stark contrast from the consensus on here and other IU related sites.

I’d say that’s pretty consistent with this board too.  It’s been pretty split. I and others have been pretty open that we didn’t think he was the answer.

I think he will be a thorn in our side, as far as recruiting the state, but if we can ever land a winner, he doesn’t worry me. The administration is what worries me.

Which Adam Howard is this? The guy that runs a non profit, helping managers get started in their college basketball careers? Or isn't there an Adam Howard involved with IU basketball recruiting? I have searched X but did not see where Adam Howard, non profit, had changed his twitter pic and bio.

The Adam Howard involved with recruiting at Indiana is the one that changed his Twitter pic.

Sorry but after spending the past few months defending Woodson, what a sh*t take (and please don't give me the "I would be fine if they moved on" BS).  When was the last time your boy, and make no mistake, as far as you climb up his @$$ to defend him, he is your boy, when was the last time he beat Northwestern.

Now nothing is a sure thing but this is a total Indiana move that always gets supported by the sunshine pumper fanbase we have.  "Gotta give Woody time..." to completely bury the program before we move on.  We have done it with every stupid hire we have made since Bob Knight except with the one guy who could actually coach to save his life.  I fully expect May to kill it at Michigan because this is the Indiana way.  Day late, dollar short and paralyzed to make a move because of optics.  The dumbest administrators to ever administrate and so much of our fanbase is responsible not because of their toxicity but because they are trained seals.

Not even close to how I feel. And the Fire Woodson thread is elsewhere

It all goes back to if he didn’t have IU ties nobody here would be excited about him either.

Because it needs to be done. It’s sickening that this administration so so afraid of the optics that they are mean-spirited and need to be fair the the incompetent coaches that they continue to hire and that they keep long past the expiration date.

This is the essence of what Leo Durocher meant when he said “nice guys finish last”. The Indiana administration (looking at you, Quinn Buckner) - stop worrying about who thinks that you are being mean and do the right thing.

Adam Howard going to UM with Dusty? He changed his twitter pic and bio and retweeted a Dusty to UM tweet.

It was a Grow the Game retweet.   Howard is President of men’s basketball operations for them and Dusty is a mentor for the program and Advisory board member.    Having said that Howard will be looking to move up the chain and if May offers him a position he should jump on it

If I was a former manager looking to be a coach one and had a mentor like that why not jump at the chance.
