Have to give him a big, fat asterisk.
-
Actually recruit, get and keep a HS player. Make it into the B1G conference tournament.

I also doubt that Oladipo or Zeller have the egos to try. And I also believe that they have families and a support team that would help them to see the reality.

Yeah, I know the story. Fair enough. But being a college player doesn't entitle him to come back and destroy his college program. He should never have been hired - in fact, would not have been except for Buckner. He had zero experience as a college coach, and, apparently, no idea what the job even entailed. He just wanted the title, and has been sitting on that title for the past 3 years.

The conference limits were removed for the 1979 tournament - so Woodson's last 2 tournaments allowed as many teams as could get into the then 40-team tournament.
-
"Believing" he can do it and having the tools to get it done are two different things. I wouldn't hate it, given where we are today and what we have to watch going on in the program. FIRE MEDIOCRE MIKE WOODSON.

That's my boy. Roncalli alum who holds all time scoring record (boy's basketball)for Rebels (now Royals). -
He used the word "retire", but I question the premise of "one of the greatest players in program history". He was good, he overcame a major back injury/surgery, but there are plenty of players significantly better than Woodson. And setting that whole argument aside for a moment, he's an awful coach who cannot and will not recruit. He got to the dance twice with Archies players and a few of his own no-effort recruits (guys who literally fell into his lap), and if the scenario that you paint even happens, it will be because the rich donors will have bought him a team. So, yeah, IF he wins it all (less that 1% chance of that happening), then I still want him gone. Retired or fired, that part makes me no difference.

Yeah, things change, but a couple of weeks earlier, Trilly had Gallo all packed up and headed to South Bend. Now there's a bump in NIL, and suddenly there's no other coach that Gallo would want to play for? Kind of makes one wonder.
-
This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder. No doubt Woodson is capable of such a stunt. But it's pretty ballsy, even for him.
-
I hear you, and I am right on the edge.

X working out for the NBA combine?

Sad, but absolutely spot on. Burn, baby, burn. Let that pile of ash be Woodson's legacy, because, well, he did his job.
