Stevens may have been out of college basketball for a dozen years - and from coaching altogether since 2021 - but can you think of anyone who has the combination of coaching acumen, program management and personal motivation for Indiana University that Stevens has? Being GM of the Celtics the past 4 years has given him an insight into the financial aspects that no other candidate can bring to the table.

Does that mean we'll get him? Idk - but a LOT of stars seem to be aligning at the same time.

I have a hard time believing any sane human, if after they hire a big time coach, in a little more than a month, worries one iota whether MW coached or didn't coach the last 8 games of this season

We still have a chance to make the tourney this year, however small. We’re punting it with Woodson staying. With that being said, it just highlights the bigger issues going on within the basketball program behind closed doors.

Don't get the concern about Stevens because he's been out of the college game for 10 years. If anything, recruiting is less relationship driven now. The GM skills he has developed would be incredibly valuable, and I'm guessing that he's developed relationships with more agents than any college coach going right now.

Assuming he stays 10 years, I think you are looking at 2 banners, minimum.

I don't care if it's rampant wild speculation, I'm like a pig in mud.

So the day after the Purdue game, Dolson gets on a flight to the same airport the Celtics charter from, and spends an hour there talking to Brad and his wife. Dolson flies home in time for the women's game vs. Nebraska the next day and Brad flies to Philly the next day for their game. That was Sunday. By Wednesday evening, rumblings started about the "forced" retirement.

Don’t forget the leaked story of Woodsons IU body guard …

The regional airport in Bedford, MA (BED) is Laurence G. Hanscom Field Airport. Located right next to Hanscom Air Force Base.

Both located 20 minutes from Wellesley, MA where the Stevens’ live.

Stuuuuuuuuuu!

probably nothing. Just having some fun.

FWIW I was asked away from the open board about a flight from Hartford to Bloomington earlier today. My answer was “hell no, that’s 2:30 drive from Wellesley. But if it was Hanscom AFB that’d be different!” So when this came up I found it funny/interesting.

How does that adversely affect IU ?

It doesn't really.  I think what adversely affects IU is the way this is coming about.  Normal people meet for a few hours.  Either "hey, I am thinking of retiring after the season" or "hey, Mike, I think you need to retire after the season." "Lets talk."  Iron out the details and then issue a press release and/or press conference.  It's relatively simple and seamless.

But not at IU, with Woodson, Buckner, and the rest of the clowns.  I am sure Dolson feels like he's trying to juggle knives.  "Mike doesn't want to retire, you need to do this, this and that.  Give him the season.  He's doing his job, etc. etc."  It's really not that hard, but IU has to make it hard.

I haven't read the 100s of pages today.  So please explain why exactly people believe Brad Stevens would come coach IU bball after being in the NBA for the past decade plus.  Fool me once...

Because it’s Brad Stevens

He’s stated previously it’s his dream job.  Son is at ND. Parents are getting older and Bloomington is closer to home.   A lot has changed.  Celts for sale.  New nba contract rules. Won a ring.

If he passes and a guy like May takes it, the job won’t open for 15+ years.  It’s now or never for him.

allegedly he left originally bc he didn’t like recruiting kids and schools coming in the 11th hour and stealing them.  IU NIL changes a lot of that.
