You can count on one hand the number of schools whose fans expect their team to win at the level IU fans expect. The only issue is that IU is the one school who hasn't done it in 30+ years.

We haven’t done it in 30 years because we hired bad coaches.

Expectations here aren’t that high.  Tom got three years to rebuild.  Woody was “okay” for two years and still had very strong support going into year three.  That only changed when he completely imploded and it was 100% his fault.

IU is a poorly run program.  Maybe Scott will fix that.  We’ll see.

Yes, IU fans expect the team's NET to be better than the 30th - 100th that it has been every single year that Mike Woodson has been coach.

So yes, with sellout crowds and unlimited resources, IU fans expect better than mid/below-mid pack B1G.

Well we are talking about hiring guys like Brad Brownell so you may have a point.

Is chair throwing bad?

No, I don't really care. But if we were looking at coaching candidates, and there were a big time winner who also happened to throw stuff in fits of rage, people here would be up in arms and prepared to burn their IU gear if IU even gave him an interview. Just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy.

Too much focus and attention on things that don’t actually contribute to winning.  Gotta repriorotize the foundations of the University towards a winning mentality.

Well, we are talking about a hundred different guys that could or could not be hired. Because it's a basketball message board.

Strong-@$$ offers is literally the name of the game in college basketball these days. And he's one of the best at it. Dude is a flat out winner. That's who I want leading this program, not some nice guy I want at my backyard bbq.

Hey, @Class of '66 Old Fart, he said "dude"!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

We don’t run the program.  I don’t know who will be hired.

If you want to defend the actions of the kids Sampson recruited, by all means you're free to do so. Zero interest in seeing that caliber of character in Bloomington ever again.

I am not defending them. Once again you are twisting things around to try to fit your narrative. Your bull$hit tactics aren’t going to work on me. I $hit out chunks of dudes bigger than you on the reg.

If Will Wade won 25 games his first year here, not one single person would give a sh*t that Will Wade made a strong-@$$ offer 7 years ago on an FBI wiretap. And why would they? It's completely irrelevant in today's game. If our program isn't making strong-@$$ offers to recruits and transfers they aren't fit for the job.

Powerless in todays world.

Will Wade would absolutely kill it at IU in this climate. Thick-skinned, doesn't give a s*** what people think, flat-out winner. But yeah let's hire Brad Brownell because he's a pro's pro whose never won anything. If Brad Brownell was from across the river in Henderson KY instead of Evansville he'd be an after thought.

Will Wade's teams have finished in the top 25 exactly ONCE.

Wait, what?!!? Willie Strong-@$$ has also NEVER WON ANYTHING?

Well, now AH has no choice but to apologize and change his tune.

Is that what you want? A guy who doesn’t care what people think?

Great way to ingratiate yourself with the high school coaches who you are recruiting from. IIRC, that was one of the reasons Crean lost his luster… he thought he was the smartest guy in every room.

If Wade is hired the Hoosier in Uspshoosier will definitely come off on this forum.  It would be very hard for me to continue be invested in the program if he was ever hired

That's how I feel about Coach Facial Hair. I would not be a IU basketball fan if he was hired. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that since it won't happen.

Will Wade has won 3 conference titles at 3 different schools and taken 3 different schools to the tournament. He's also 42.

Bud Mackey was and he was convicted of trafficking crack-cocaine...WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Eli Holman was and he missed his junior season for punching out a referee mid game and then most of his senior season after getting shot in the head at a gang affiliated party.

Sampson was here less than 24 months.

A lot of kids on that team came from rough areas, and had rough upbringings...being a student athlete wasn't something they cared much about. All they wanted to do was hoop...and party. Kids were talented, but not the culture or atmosphere I wan't any future coach to build at Indiana. Even if it comes with winning...

But a minor detail to above - he wasn't shot in the head. He was shot in the upper back / shoulder. Per police, it was a case of mistaken identify, as the car he was in was shot at when they pulled up to a teenage girls birthday party at a hotel.
