....my point exactly. Early on, in the 70's and 80's, Coach Knight didn't really have to go out and pound the recruiting trail all the time. Kids just wanted to play for him.

I don’t know enough about knights early recruiting days, but he tended to bring in plenty of talent. I remember reading about him attending Damon Baileys games. After that it seemed to drop off but he still did go to games.

I will be shocked if we don't hear something soon. We are getting clowned on road games on TV with the fire hire extend woodson stuff. I am sure the turds at wacky have taken notice and next Friday may be a very sad day for iu if something isn't done. That's if this Sunday isn't a disaster. What a mess they put us in.
Fire everyone involved!

The Mackey point you made is notable.

Can you imagine 15,000 Purdump dingbats chanting in unison "Keep Mike Woodson!"

It will be awful yet awesome when (not if) that happens.

I really miss knowing that Northwestern on the schedule was usually a W. Not with Woody he says hold my beer while I lose another.

Asked if worried this late in the season about Indiana's lack of defensive connectedness, Mike Woodson responds "No, you can never get worried there's too many games still left.."

We are down to the last third of the season. What is this guy talking about? About to start a brutal stretch.

There are 11 regular seasons game left, coach?

Was He? I didn't take it that way at all

I listen to Fornelli quite a bit on pods like Cover 3, in my opinion he’s a good guy and a jokester.  He gets IU and I think he is just poking fun at the Brad Stevens talk that comes up every coaching search.  He wouldn’t have sources on this sort of thing.

Relax. We haven’t even hit the All-star break yet!

I honestly think his internal clock is on an 82 game schedule.  He’s always talks like it’s a long grueling season, they have to pace themselves, and that’s why I think he plays at least 8-10 players.  There was an article that was posted in this thread talking about Woodson not having a sense of urgency and coaching like it’s an 82 game schedule.  I’ve got news for him, there is approximately 60% less games than the NBA.  This guy is delusional!

Woodson takes out Rice and Ballo late in the game and the lead immediately balloons to 14. You can’t make this up.

Woodson’s refusal to adjust to a modern style of basketball has cost us numerous games. Chalk this one up as another. Malik and Ballo cannot be playing together.

It was very noticeable on the court but in MW’s defense, Reneau was wearing a bulky knee brace, which hurt his ability to move!  lol ;).

Yes, it’s a long grueling season and he had to rest them!
In those games we won, Ballo probably played his most minutes and he seem to keep his best players on the floor together as much as possible.  But for some reason he didn’t against NW.  The guy is a buffoon!

....technically we have played 2/3's of the season, 20 out of 30+ games. I know what you are saying though. 11 games left are not enough games to keep excusing and "trying to get better" and " trying to figure things out", etc.... lol! If we had 82 games, maybe, but good grief Dolson has got to see this is a huge problem that continues to get worse.

I don't think I've seen this discussed, but doesn't Woody own several pieces of rental property here in Bloomington? (Residential and commercial)

I ask because I've heard stories recently that made it sound like he's actively managing those properties... as in doing business at Cook concerning those properties...

1) Can anyone confirm?
2) Does this bother anyone other than me? The dude doesn't watch much game film and can't be bothered to recruit but can manage a side hustle?

What's depressing is I've heard from some AAU/high school coaches that the assistants actually bust their butts recruiting and do a pretty good job. However, the head coach and recruitment closer is very bad and wastes a lot of their hard work.

The sad part is that we can tell this is true just from the actual results on the recruiting trail in the last 3+ years.  They get them lined up for him to close the deal, and he either doesn't care or screws it up.  Rinse and repeat.

1 It is true that he along with May, Ferguson, and maybe some others own a lot of rental properties and have since the mid-80s.

2 Mike Woodson has never stepped foot in any of these properties unless it was to collect a check. They have a property management company that does everything for them.

That 2 big lineup works so well - NOT.

Per Synergy. Indiana had 15 possessions & scored 8 points (.53 points per) w/ the duo. Without them together, 62 points in 65 possessions (.95 points per). Defensively, 12 possessions together. Gave up 19 points (1.58 points per). Without the pairing, 60 points in 66 possessions (.9 points per).
