Trish Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 I wonder if we see some coaches / support staff leave this off-season because they see the writing on the wall. thebigweave 1
AKHoosier Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 So is Dane Fife totally never an option to be on an IU sideline ever again? As long as he's on board with NIL, I like the idea of him being on Dusty May's staff here to coach the defense. Our defense has gotten progressively worse since he left after the first year and I wonder if that isn't a coincidence. AZ Hoosier, J34, Chris007 and 1 other 4

The days of teams running the table in the conference are over or at least until the COVID seniors are done and you don’t have 25 year olds playing against 17-18 year olds. thebigweave, Chris007, Banksyrules and 1 other 4

I've obviously forgotten, but someone please refresh our memory on the whole Fife situation!

Given IU’s basketball resources it only takes one ‘right’ hire to make things very good for a very, very long time. And that change will be apparent pretty early on if we make the right hire. Give me a guy in his 30’s or 40’s; the right one is out there. Identify him and let’s roll. taco corp, WayneFleekHoosier, MikeRoberts and 2 others 5

But a younger guy like May (or similar) I think we would be more willing to let them learn on the job than someone in their late 60's. taco corp, SamIam, Chris007 and 4 others 7

I think May and Fife are friends, but loyalty is something any head coach needs in an assistant. Probably going to be tough for Fife to get an assistant job anywhere. Tom White and RoadRage 2
HooHooHoo22 Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 I’m afraid it doesn’t matter who our coach is. We seem to have a losing culture around our program. Like a Red Sox or Cubs curse. Chris007 1
