What´s everyone going to think when the next coach loses their first ¨bad loss" game? Awful lot of right now people, and society isn´t letting up on that.

Probably the same thing we have been forced to do in the last 2 hires, sit there and take it. I guess. I am all for allowing a coach time, however, with the way things work now I think the leash for coaches are likely to begin to get even shorter. Especially with the way Louisville and Kentucky have turned out this year.

Is your thesis that it’s society’s fault Woodson isn’t winning basketball games?

Cause I think I’d like to hear a little more about that…

Not in the slightest....I´m saying IU society is going to require the next coach to win immediately. Or he wiĺl be toast too.

All about equity. If a new coach comes in and we fans see the team demonstrate toughness, all out effort and have an identity then that's built up equity. If coach has "bad loss" after that he'll have much more grace shown. Even if he has a "bad loss" early we'll still give him a leash. It's the coaches that have "bad losses" but build zero equity that we turn on.

It will be Kenya

I think Ya would be a better choice if we actually wanted to do well the rest of the way.

If Kenya had the chops to be a head coach, he would be one by now. And how many years has he been an asisstant at IU? He has a cushy gig that pays him well so he doesn't rock the boat and is probably mimic'ing Woody from an effort level at this point simply because he can.

Hate to break it to fans who don’t know IU very well and are having a visceral reaction because of that, but there is no ground swell to remove Mike Woodson. This is not a culture prone to making knee jerk decisions based on the whims of fans, who frankly don’t have the first clue what goes into this process.

There, I saved everyone some time waiting for Kathy to return. Lol

You forgot to say the process works, despite the last 25 years screaming otherwise.

Win or walk the plank.

This is Indiana.

We have put up with crap since RMK.

If we do not win, the coach gets the hook.

(Just kidding...mediocrity is ok with us.   Purdue can win and..OMG  no...not that.)

Just win, baby!

That’s actually a bad look on Ya’s part imo. That’s the HC’s call. Woodys reasoning is defensible, even though it didn’t work out.

In my experience, you can bring it up again over drinks later that night if you have that kind of relationship. But showing the boss/HC up in public like that is not kosher and shouldn’t be tolerated.

I remember that game with Archie and Bruiser screaming at each other on the bench. This situation felt reminiscent of that. The beginning of the end.

Woody and Archie and even Crean to some extent all got years beyond when the fanbase started viscerally shouting for their demise. We are as patient as any other fanbase that fancies itself elite or blue blood. I don’t need a 120+ game sample size to judge if a system works or see how recruiting is going. Anyone with eyeballs objectively watching Woodyball since day one knew exactly how this season would go. Year four was a mistake and we waited too long, again. The new guy will have plenty of leash, just like every other guy to coach here.

Good coaches win fast. Good coaches with huge NIL budgets win even faster. I am not sure the argument here.

Kind of the nature of the business, tbh. I think IU fans have demonstrated that at worst they’re no more impatient than your average large, rabid fanbase.

Sounds like the locker room after the game was pretty spicy.  Hopefully the right person observed that.
