Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Im also hiring a GM. One who overseeing roster construction with the HC and helps coordinate with NIL. You are starting to see this in football at the football powers. Michigan just got a guy from the Bears to do this for them. The players are now getting paid it’s a professional endeavor. Time to have the structure in place to treat your main program as such.

This is what I thought IU might be trying to do by bringing in Matta. Guess not.

Has Woodson been fired yet? I'm tired of this clown show. Whoever pulled the fire alarm last night is in debt to Indiana Basketball and Woodson. They don't win without that fire alarm.
Nope they do not.

Honestly, I thought Matta was just here to help Woodson get acclimated to the college game and show him the ropes. Might be hard to pair a GM who is using analytics to a HC that doesn’t seem to be invested in them

More than anything it's not going to be if IU wins any more games or not. It will be about if Dolson can get a proven coach locked up. If he does that then it doesn't matter if we win out.

You would know more than anyone so I assume that means he is already looking. As long as he's being allowed to do so that's a semi decent sign of life from the people with weight bearing opinion on the matter I suppose.

X had 5 turnovers in 15 minutes, and was -12.

Lol I didn't say his production was key, as Woodson said he didn't play particularly well but his energy and some leadership seemed (imo) to contribute. I'm not big on just dissing guys on stats. He also shot 2-3 and 1-2 from the arc for 5 points. That wasn't the point.

Anything to look for in Pearl during tonight's Auburn @ Tennessee game? Should be a great game

Glad you mentioned it as I will try to watch later too.

Not what you asked, but after listening to the BP podcast i posted yesterday, he was asked how long he would continue coaching and he said he did not see himself coaching in his 70s.  So, since he turns 64 in March and would not coach into his 70s then we would have 5, maybe 6 years with him.

Surely Dolson is aware that the display by Mike Woodson’s team last night against a sputtering team like Wisconsin shouldn’t be anywhere near what “Indiana basketball at its best” should look like.
That comment alone should make a year end interview unnecessary. If that's his idea of the "best" then he clearly isn't what you want. Actually a pretty stupid thing to say.....which doesn't surprise me.

I guess here's the question for the board if you're Scott Dolson.  You've tried to land a whale such as Pearl or Oats.  Came close but both said no.  You're choice is to hire a Dusty May or Chris Collins or bring back Woody.  If you bring back Woody next season is almost guaranteed to resemble Crean's first 3 years and the 2025 recruiting class is gone.  What do you do?

Every coach has a risk.  The risk with bringing Woody back is he has shown a complete lack of ability to adapt to the college game.  So he's out.  I then grab Dusty May -- a big swing, we'll see if I connect.  Try to keep Gallo and Leal -- your IU "glue guys."  Try to keep McNeely.  To a lesser extent, keep Cupps and Sparks, both guys you seem like they want to play at IU.  Then hit the portal and try to find those undiscovered gems, including my FAU players.  Then a long summer trying to lock down kids for the 2025 class.  First year goal, try to stabilize a sinking ship.  Then build the foundation for the future.

We're not real good with him as the 4. He's been in foul trouble most of the time. When he has had his best games Ware has been in foul trouble or hurt. When you put Reneau with a 5 it's two bigs out there again clogging things up again.

Exactly, everyone see’s it.  If this team was constructed right, Reneau should have been the 1st off the bench and Galloway is the 1st guard off the bench

You said it, 2025 class will not commit to IU. Woodson goes no doubt McNealy is gone, oh well! Time to get a proven coach and it isn't Woodson! May or Collins would be an upgrade! At least they are college coaches!

Yep, me too. Give me Dusty May with IU’s resources at his disposal over what we are seeing out of Woodson. Dusty could get McNeeley to stay on board and get the ‘25 guys who are in wait and see mode to commit already. Sisley doesn’t want to play in Woodson’s system and i don’t wanna see him drop 30 on us at Purdue.

I guess my question would be, would Dolson consider Dusty as one of those “proven coaches” to lock up and move on with?

No, because he’s not yet.
