Same. Didn’t he also say “why would I ever coach at a place like Indiana?  Total fish bowl.   Lose a game and the fans are all over you “?!??

That’s what Goodman said about Otzelberger. But yea…I have read that’s one of the reasons few has turned down a million job offers over the years

Not bad to have for a backup option.

I'd argue he should be the top option. Lifer, great coach, great recruiter (top talent to Gonzaga) and so much tournament success. Only reason for him not be top option is he just turned 63 in December

Then he should stay where he is. Wouldn’t want him if he’s ever held those sentiments.

Guys will be fighting over themselves for this gig, I want somebody who respects the title and the keys being handed to em

Anyone else excited and happy, yet still has a voice inside their head that is saying, "It's IU basketball and something will get screwed up in the end?"  That's me.  I want to hear it or read the words, "Woodson is 100% not coming back next season."
A part of me thinks he will go on a run to end the season and then get a 5th year.  Call me jaded after 30 years of mediocre basketball.  Go Hoosiers!!!
I thought he was quitting today. Instead he is finishing the year and knowing him if he went on a run somehow he'd declare I'm not retiring anymore. Just can him now

They’re forcing him to resign effective at the conclusion of the season. He’s not getting escorted out of the building in the middle of the year like so many thought would happen.

And he shouldn’t. You might not like ( hate) Woodson as coach ( I definitely don’t) but he deserves the respect  due a former great IUBB player. If he chooses to be ugly than that’s on him. Like his coach.

First, you guys are hilarious. Reading the pages I missed on a long travel day is great.

I guess I missed the chance to drop the bomb that coaches were informed yesterday that Woody is being retired. Better to come from established sources so those on this board who question inside info so diligently wouldn’t have to post responses. Should be an announcement officially tomorrow. Told it was supposed to happen today, but Woody is being difficult about ending the season - and some of that has to do with getting the most out of his contract. This all follows several weeks of work by Dolson, and his witnessing a fight in the locker room that had to be broken up, with an assistant coach yelling at Woody “this is why they’re firing you!”

Want to watch the women’s game now, so will save some additional nuggets for later. But Dolson is retaining a search firm just to check the box, but we’re getting our guy. Numbers have been discussed. I’d expect that to be announced after the season right before the tourney starts. I’ll add more later. Sorry my travel didn’t spring this last night before it hit the media but had some family things going on.

Things are about to turn around for IU and our fans in a big big way. Alright, go Lady Hoosiers!

Listening to DD today and he said he talked to two people down in Bloomington and was told that Ballo didn't come to practice the day before the Purdue game. Have you heard any of that and if it is true then it shows players are not being held accountable.

JFC. Mike Woodson still has his job. If he was fired, he’d be out today. Good lord.

So that’s why he not going to finish his last two years of his contract. He would be there next year and the year after but he was fired. But being nice to him to let him save face.

IU admins could screw up a wet dream.  Never count out their incompetence

Not necessarily, he could have had an excusable reason.
