IUBB vs Northwestern - 12/23/20 @ 8:30 ET on BTN
mbredenk101 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This is so frustrating to watch. However, anytime I even think about IU getting rid of Archie Miller I am also frustrated with constant rebuilds with new coaches. The post that said we are not getting what we were sold when getting rid of Crean is exactly right. Just wish we could show definitive improvement in the overall product... Give Coach Tom Allen a MONSTER extension.
mbredenk101 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yeah I wasn't really comparing location, more just to the fact that Mark Few doesn't seem to have a desire to leave for any other job... Sent from my SM-F700U using BtownBanners mobile app -

We just need to make him the Mark Few of college football to where he has no desire to leave and is as comfortable as can be. Sent from my SM-F700U using BtownBanners mobile app -

Also, if he is doing them through virtual school for initial credit, he might have already started them. Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app -

I am not a coach and I don't know all of the intricacies of Archie's defense. I have wondered though, if the players aren't doing a good job with it...why not go to a straight man-to-man? Easy to understand and each individual will be exposed of they don't show effort against their man. Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app

With the effort they showed today, the scholarship players should stay out there and have to take in the fact that they have walk-on players finishing the game against them....and extending the lead. Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app

You definitely make good points here. However, I would say it would be different if we were having this discussion after making the tournament but not making a deep enough run in the tournament. The problem is that with expectations not all that high, three years should be enough to put a good, consistent product on the floor. The only thing consistent right now is bad basketball. If I was mediocre to poor in my performance evaluations over a three year period, I shouldn't be surprised if my employer is looking to replace me. On the other hand, if I was replacing someone that couldn't meet very mild expectations, I would not be afraid of being treated the same if I were to actually meet or exceed the expectations set forth. IUBB vs MSU Game Thread 1/23 8:30 FS1

I agree....honestly, with us in the mix at this point and with how we are trending upward, we could very well share or win the conference title. Take care of home and split our 3 sets of two game road trips to only lose 3 more conference games. Totally achievable if we keep playing like we have been. 1 on 1 Player Meetings and Rotation Change

I agree...i took him saying that as changing the dispersion of min and giving the bulk of them to those that are bringing their best that day. Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app -

All great points! Our guard play was atrocious and I agree that collectively they made a mess of this game. I guess I have been hoping the the FSU game wouldn't be an outlier with Green. It is so maddening that he has no recognition of time and possession. Your senior has to be able to recognize when the guards need to stop shooting the ball because no one is making anything and to go back to what ALWAYS got us our lead by pounding it inside. He can obviously be so good at times but Green has to LEAD... Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app

I don't usually like to place blame one player or person for a loss, but this one is on Green. One of our captains is ejected from the game and our senior leader should be a calming force that helps things get going. We need him on the floor because we need his potential points but man, it's times like these where he's got to step up. Sent from my LM-G850 using BtownBanners mobile app

Yeah you're right. I forgot about the close games early in the season last year and remembered them when I went back and looked. I guess I'm tired of being frustrated about the little things and if the team is able to gut out a win, regardless of the opponent and/or how ugly it is, I've decided to be happy with it and hope for growth. Last year we lost most of our close games....12 out of 13 games if I remember correctly. Is jury still out on how good we can be? Sure. But I like winning more than losing and if we are winning these type of games now and can be playing our best basketball at then end of the season then I will continue be happy when we win games... (2019) PG Austin Van Zyl
mbredenk101 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Some have said that this feels like a Crean-like desperation recruit. With Archie saying that we will only go after someone that will help us in the 2019 class, I'm going to choose this to have more of the feeling of this being the type of unknown recruit Beilein would get at Michigan that would roast us for 20 point?
