IMO that is the thought process of the old IU regime.

Lock them both up

Hard to lock up Shanahan if Cig stays. Can't hold him back if he wants to move up. He's going to be a HC somewhere very soon. If we keep Cig and lose MS I feel very confident with Tino moving into play calling duties.

Agreed I feel like no matter what we are losing one or the other. Tino seems like the guy that will stay around until Cig is gone and be the next man up

Maybe. Or maybe if he’s compensated fairly, he understands that he’s in the best position possible.

Assistants would be one thing, but if we let Cig walk after this year, that may just about put me over the edge to the point of being done with IU athletics. Lol.

The guy was an assistant coach for 15 years, he doesn't strike me as the gunslinger type, I say if the school offers him a competitive contract and promises to improve the facilities, add seats, and make the football program top notch....he would have no reason to leave! But Shanahan is probably gone at the end of the season! Just my opinion of course, I have no idea what Cignetti wants or maybe more importantly what Mrs. Cignetti wants!

I would be surprised if he left after this year, but I’d like to secure a long term extension and publicly announce some commitments to stadium upgrades, staff pay, etc. asap. With Purdue left on the schedule, this is minimally a 9 win season. That’s equal to the last 3 years combined. I frankly don’t think we should care about the amount, just get it done and keep this guy on our sideline.

If it only took 8 mil that would be a steal. I’m guessing we will lose either Cignetti or Shanahan.

When Florida offers Cig 10mm I won’t even be mad when he leaves. I hope it doesn’t happen but he deserves it. I hope we match it, but I doubt we will.

If IU can just keep him for 3 or 4 years he can totally transform this program, I hope they lock him up for life, but he can set us up for success for a long time if he will just stay long enough to build up the program!

That’d be 3 mil more than they are paying Napier currently

The SEC will pay whatever to win, if you think what they’re paying Napier matters I don’t know what to tell you. There will be a bidding war for Cig.

Watching Michigan v Michigan State I think we win at least one of those and probably both depending on Rourke's status. OSU didn't look unbeatable today. It's not unreasonable to think that we come to the Purdue game undefeated. Maybe I'm delusional or maybe just drinking too much.

I am right there with you, my friend.

Unlimited potential as Cig said.

This is a special football team.

Agreed. Just pay the man. (And his associates/assistants/staff).
