I'm a little interested to see if the addition of the PAC schools to the B1G next year will have any (positive) impact on the list of candidates for IU... guys who might be willing to come in and try to resurrect this carcass under difficult circumstances.

Here in lies the problem with IU Football....if we find a Coach who can turn the program around....that Coach will be hired away from us.  I'd sure like that problem however...for once.

My guess is, do to the timing and not waiting...Dolson probably had a new agreement accepted before doing this.  I bet it gets announced this week

I don't see this as a problem at all, if (and a big IF) the new coach is so successful that a bigger power comes and poaches him, we will have enjoyed 2-3 really solid years and will be in a better position for the future than we are now.

I don’t think anyone is forcing you to read this thread, let alone participate in it. IU is likely within 24 hours of ridding one of its coaches from one of the worst contracts in college football history and it certainly warrants discussion, particularly on how it’s going to be financed.

You need to start being a little more careful in what you say and how you comment.  As a Mod, I read nearly every single post and you're wearing thin on a lot of posters.  There was no new information being posted you were merely regurgiating the same comments in every post.  A word to the wise.  Don't push your luck.

It’s funny that Paul Chryst is not on Osterman list. When he’s not fed the information he struggles. IU has talked to him already.

Do you know the interest level? Or just the fact that he's been contacted. That would be a home run hire if they pull it off.

I was also surprised that Fuente wasn’t. Not advocating for him, but it seems like he would merit consideration. But you would know way more about that I.

I agree. And reality is our program would deal with this for the next 20 years if we string together good hires. A few years of success here is just a stepping stone elsewhere. I’d love to have that problem. It makes a bit older candidate like Fritz more appealing. Maybe he wants a P5 job as his last stop?

Longer term is the challenge of stringing together great hires. Look at Vandy. They got that exact scenario with Franklin. Then back to being Vandy ever since.

There are several I'd be happy with. Fritz, Mullen, Chryst, Sumrall, Dickert, Cignetti and Fitzgerald would be at the top for me right now.

I was told this was going to happen yesterday before the Purdue game. I was also told Paul Chryst and Pat Fitzgerald were contacted. Not sure I believe Fitzgerald. Also have heard Matt Campbell

Do you think Tom Herman would get any consideration, Chris?

Paul Chryst would be a homerun for IU.

I'd be excited about him especially if it also meant a big investment in facilities.

Next man up.  Since the 1950’s
Clyde Smith, Bernie Crimmins, Bob Hicks, Phil Dickens, John Pont, Lee Corso, Sam Wyche, Bill Mallory, Can Cameron, Gerry Dinardo, Terry Hoeppner, Bill Lynch, Kevin Wilson, Tom Allen

Of all those John Pont brought cardiac kids some Rose Bowl fun before so many teams went to bowl games and Corso brought some Holiday Bowl excitement.  Then, Mallory had some sustained success worth its weight in a Copper Bowl penny and defeated some Liberty Bowl Gamecocks.

Next Man Up.
