Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 31, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2021 Hopefully we play a game against the Nittany Lions (5-5) (0-2). Radio Live Stats On his Zoom presser this morning Woody said Galloway would not play Sunday but was hopeful he'd be available for O$U on the 6th. His response to tightening the rotation: "It all depends. It's going to be based on the game and who plays well. I'd like to play 9, 10 guys. That would be great for our ball club." Woodson says he would like to IU to 40% shooting from three. He cites that they're at 37% right now. Woodson asked if he'd play Trayce Jackson-Davis and Michael Durr together. "You might," but said he's never played two centers together on a consistent basis even in the NBA. Said the Hoosiers still need to get Durr in better shape, but he will play more in the Big Ten. Woodson on Tamar Bates: “We’re going to need Tamar because he has shown he can make plays and do things for us from an offensive standpoint. We got to get him better from a defensive standpoint. Being able to defend the ball. Not giving up dribble penetration so quickly.” LockdownD, BtownStrength, Joe_hoopsier and 5 others 7 1 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Agree with the 9-10 guys. When healthy we have the depth to throw at teams, should use it Joe_hoopsier 1 Quote
str8baller Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I’m pumped. I know we played UW already but this feels like the start of conference to me. Quote

I find Bates to be ok on the ball (for a frosh), but he gets caught out of position away from the ball (not surprising for a frosh). Maybe Woody sees a lot this in practice. Either way, I think this team is in its final form when Bates can push Stewart or Kopp to the second unit. This would increase or shooting on the second unit, and improve or dynamism on the first unit. From a decision making standpoint I can see why Woody doesn’t want X and Bates playing together a lot right now. Either way, starting with this game I hope to see Bates get some more run with the first unit. Whoozhers 1 Quote
Honkyman Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Bates won't be starting over Stewart or Kopp. He's not ready for starter time. He's been too inconsistent and conference play will be more challenging for him. He's got great potential and shows flashes of things to come. Hopefully he will be contributing with consistency by the tournament time. BGleas and hoosierbgh 2 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Anthony Leal is a plus shooter, an excellent passer, can guard, and ALWAYS plays his @$$ off. If Parker Stewart doesn’t start, Anthony will. BGleas, DWB and jk34 3 Quote

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I like Leal starting. He does the little things on offense. Quick passes, doesn't hold the ball for very long. Swings the ball. Movers without the ball. Things that help an offense break down a defense that'll never show up in a box score or be praised much. thebigweave and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

I'm fine with either Stewart or Leal. Stewart can still flat out shoot it. Wish he looked more for his shot. Hoosierfanyuh and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Don’t think Leal starting over P is in play. P got benched the 1st half of 1 game, that was why Leal started, not because he suddenly outplayed P. No reason for P to suddenly be playing off the bench. Leal is definitely a physically stronger guy which helps when he gets caught in the post. I think his court IQ is a bit higher as well. I'd consider it to be a good "problem" to have. But maybe, just maybe, Stewart could tap back into his scoring ability coming off the bench. Stuhoo 1 Quote
NOLA Hoosier Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I predict: 1 amazing half and 1 mind-boggling half. X gets 4 or 5 fouls. TJD dunks. Stewart makes some trés. We win by single digits. MikeRoberts, str8baller, killerbeezer and 1 other 4 Quote
