Needed to keep feeding TJD in the 2nd half.  Two really dumb plays...the technical and then the 3-point foul...then Race got his 4th foul...changed the feel of the game.  Started attempting 3's but no inside game and no rebounds...no free throws went in.  Get a defender on Fark and it changes the game in the 2nd half.  Seems the fire went out.

I would have liked to have abandoned the three midway second half before lead totally evaporated and worked low and drove more to get fouled

Agree. Speaks to our lead guard problem. Best player can’t be a big if there isn’t one guard who is at least a leader.

#0 pretty much lived up to his scouting report, which I feared. Phin looks more confident but playing like a scorer. Bates is talented but played like a frosh.

Credit to the staff for getting the ball to TJD when it got close. But a true leader st the guard spot knows to stop those runs when the lead slips to 15…12…8… by manufacturing points and getting a score down low. I don’t mind playing loose and getting good looks early but there’sa time to slow the pace down when you’re the better team.

What will be interesting is after listening to Woodson on radio he talked about how he built confidence in the kids who were beaten down after last season. Looks like their confidence is getting a way earlier that expected test. Will be interesting to see how we respond Friday and beyond

When archie got blown out in his opener I wasn't worried at all cause I felt archie was the guy and it would be fine. In Woodson opener he won barely and to say the least I am concerned. Lets hope I am just naturally always wrong and Woodson can do what archie couldn't. Get this thing going!

Pretty much the exact same feelings. Feel like 5+ years of below mediocrity has caused trepidation in me. Nobody is getting the benefit of the doubt from me any longer and that may be the wrong approach. That said it remains true and Woody needed a good first showing for me to feel good about things and this wasn't it. I have a hankering for crow at this point.

Deep guard rotation, but Lander not even seeing the court is alarming. Rob had a solid first half and X is really good at slashing through the defense, but the competition is only going to get tougher so is playing time appears to be at a minimum barring injuries

Bad win but I’ll take that over a loss any day. People crying about how awful this team is, back to Archie Ball, can’t win 20 games, etc need to find another hobby. It’s clear to most that it will take time for this team to learn to play together, in this type of environment. Teams sometimes lose out the gate but IU found a way to win. On to the next

Benefit of the doubt is just hometown feel goods. It means nothing. The games feel similar because they both took over flawed teams and had a couple months with them.  Archie failed because he couldn’t build off that. Same with Crean except in recruiting. Hell, I’ll give Davis a little credit in that he at least had a couple of teams playing better at the end of the year than the beginning.

Woodson will address the issues and get them playing better or he’ll fail like the last guys. We have no way of knowing at this point.

I would not call KL not seeing the court “alarming”, or even surprising, as two different coaches have seen him in numerous practices and have chosen to not give him much playing time (so far).  I wish him the best but “it is what it is” in regards to whether or not he deserves to get playing time. It’s verrrryyyyy early but he also didn’t get much time in the Bahamas and I’m not sure it’s going to change barring an injury.

He’s not the reason we shoot for crap

Well there has to be a reason…players don’t just continually regress with their shooting. It’s one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen. Year over year, shooting gets worse and right now there remains only one constant over the past 4 years.

I agree in that a mediocre 6 point win was 1,000 points better than a loss.  If we are a bubble team, at the end of the year, for the committee this is a 1-0 victory as opposed to a “bad” loss.

Similar comments made 4 or so years ago. I have hope Woody will figure it out but self righteousness has not served this fan base well in recent memory. People are allowed to have concerns and those concerns at this point should be completely understood.

Agree, just have seen posters asking for him and if we have issues at lead guard it would seem to be an opportunity for KL to fill. If he can't crack the rotation it's an indication to me that his game hasn't taken the leap that many of us hoped for entering his second season. Long season ahead, but not promising indicator after the first game
