Yeah I was told to expect a heavy denial, but then got word that it was over.  This time meaning he was out.  It was/is still an odd time.

So it's your understanding the ship has sailed for good?

You are spot on.  Is this you Brad? Why did you say no?

That makes sense. I’m just curious to see what’s next.

I guess in theory if the Celtics tank the rest of the year and the stars demand trades and IU STILL doesn’t have a coach...but who knows what will happen.

I'm not going to disparage Coach Stevens in any way. I would have gladly taken a chance on him at IU. But, like he said, he's 44 and not a kid anymore. And the championships that everyone thought he would deliver haven't materialised. At some point you are no longer the 'golden boy'. The Celtics fans seem to be approaching that point now. Like I said I would have loved him at IU. It was worth a shot. Didn't happen. He's not the only guy who could restore IU basketball. Personally, I wouldn't want to take a job with the pressure of being the savior of a historic program. Others may differ. Just not worth it to me. There are lots of coaches who can do the job. We just need to hire one and enjoy the ride.

I'm under that impression. Just didn't know if IU was going to try one last push to sweeten the pot

I'm guessing they are scrambling to figure out plan B.  Which sucks, if they thought BS was a done deal!  The best leaders can adjust on the fly and make the best out of every situation, no matter how bad!

Sorry, I thought this was funny, since he is at Boston.

Whomever Dolson hires will feel the pressure... but BS was going to be under the gun from the beginning... how many posts refer to him as the savior of IUMBB?

Any rebuild will not happen overnight... but hopefully we will see steady progress in the right direction... we will rise again.

I’ll add this:

Boston is a fantastic place—I can see why his family is loving it there. However, the life of an NBA coach is a vagabond life by nature. So this “Masshole for life” crap is only as good as the patience of the C’s owner with him and Ainge.

It’s over, all I’ll say is that wasn’t Brad Stevens at the presser yesterday.  I think that was a damage control presser from a PR guy for the Celtics.  No way that was Brad, no way.  It’s time to move on to the next!

Figured. There goes any excitement for this hiring cycle. Unless it's suprise hire that's super proven and credentialed. None of the popular names mentioned do it for me to be honest. I'll gladly be wrong if Beard is the guy and he creates a consistentl competitive program. I just don't expect him to do that.
