People have deluded themselves into believing that if an IU guy just came home they'd all of a sudden be good at coaching.

Get an IU guy on the bench, fine. But the head job? That needs to be earned.

I've talked extensively that keeping Archie in order for us to find the right coach within the next year should be the ideology. We fire Archie too soon then miss out on a home-run maybe next season.

Why not discuss the job with Brad once their season concludes? Etc., 

We couldn't land a big fish four years ago. I'm on the boat of saying that won't change this year. Lateral move at best. I think we'll circle back to a CTC level candidate.

So what "IU guy" has the COACHING chops to be successful with the expectations here?  Or in other words, if said person never played for IU, who would you choose?

I didn’t hide your post, but I will respond. What you don’t like doesn’t matter just to put it bluntly, if your posts needs hidden it will be hidden. If you don’t like it message a mod.

I get that sentiment, but in a year with free agency of transfers allowed and IU needing serious upgrades on the roster, I'm not sure IU could afford to do any option but to let him go. I've been around long enough to know you're the Archie guy as Walking Boot of Doom was the Crean guy, despite the evidence not being on either of your side's.

Waiting for Brad and the NBA season to conclude didn't seem feasible to me either due to the transfer rules this season. Likely all the big fish would be gone for roster upgrades by the time Brad would have been able to hop on board and it wouldn't be fair to Archie and his family to hunt for another job at that time either.

You know, there was so much talk worrying about the fans not getting behind the plan B hire if Stevens didn't pan out. But I gotta say, after having my heart ripped out like this, anyone* who actually WANTS to come here and will actually take pride in the job of coaching IU (rather than using it for rat****ing contract moves) will have my unwavering support. That's where I'm at emotionally after today. I gotta say, just hearing Beard talk about IU with such obvious respect was a breath of fresh air.
