Hasn’t worked out that way.

Miller’s recruitment was always interesting with them.   He committed early but didn’t sign during the early signing period.   A lot of their fans thought he was gone then or waiting on what Ayo was going to do.  Ayo ended up coming back and Miller signed in the late period anyway.

He was kind of late to the transfer portal as well.  I think a lot of Illini fans assumed this year with Ayo turning pro and Miller already locked in as a starter and offensive focal and him not going into the portal until recently that he was coming back.  Just kind of struck me out of left field that he was transferring.  I believe he announced that he was transferring with a one word tweet of "transfer" before deleting it.  With Underwood and Illinois' tweet following it up wishing him well but not really leaving the door open for a return it might be that he and Underwood were not on the same page for his future as Stuhoo suggested.

As far as Armaan goes...don't forget that Trayce was a sure thing for the NBA (he even said this) before he met with Coach Woodson. They had a two hour meeting Thursday and that closed the deal on him coming back. It sounds like there is a meeting tomorrow with Coach Woodson and Armaan.

Same here. It is what it is. Armaan was #2 on my list of players with uncertainty but it sounds like he is almost keeping everyone else (TJD, Parker, Lander, Geronimo, Brunk)

Parker Stewart coming back mitigated the necessity for Armaan to come back. Just get 1 more combo guard and this team should  be just fine. 

That said, I totally hope Armaan returns. I really like him and love rooting for him.

+1 At the start of last season, I picked Armaan as the player who would make the biggest jump. Not really because I knew anything, but because I really like rooting for him and wanted him to make a big jump. 

Hopefully, if he makes another big jump it is to all American status at IU, not jumping to another school...

Lot of faith being placed in Parker Stewart to provide us with a 3-point shooter.  Hopefully it's not misguided faith and he's a Nick Z kind of shooter and not an Evan Fitzner.

Evan fitzner averaged 4 points at St. Mary's....

Not sure that is comparable to what Stewart has done.

With Fitzner, he was a low volume three point shooter in a pretty weak conference. And he wasn’t the kind of guy who was out creating his own shots. Stewart shot 43% from 3 on over 6 attempts per game as a freshman in the ACC l. That’s not to say he’s a sure thing, or that he’ll replicate what he did at Pitt, but I’m honestly not worried at all about him being a Fitzner-type flop.

TJD said in his presser that Parker was a "hooper" and can shoot. He spoke highly of his abilities.
