The DeVries part that excites me the most would be his ability to bring a solid roster over (Tucker and Small?), maybe keep 1 or 2 IU pieces and fit a couple of more portal pieces I think he could put together a really solid roster year 1

I'm surprised he was so interested in IU, again I know he makes his own choices but having Kory Bennett and Tom Ostrom on your staff can't imagine he heard good things about IU and its AD. Thought it was leverage but maybe he really wants out to WVU and Iowa NIL really sucks that much

Small has a Goode type situation going on for eligibility

I’m traveling with family. Shopping in Indy with my wife might be more expensive than hiring a coach

Yes Sir!  On Spring Break with wife and girls.  Have already went to outlet mall and Disney Springs.  Any of y’all hiring?  Gonna need a second job when I get back!

I think it’s more likely McCollum and him have connected.  They follow each other.  Sisley follows Brownell and Beard.  I highly doubt he really knew who Brownell was 4 weeks ago.  Beard?  Probably, but he isn’t following any other coaches.  So I assume he is paying attention to this site and others.

The family definitely knows Brownell. In fact I believe he took a visit to Clemson or at least spoke with him. Nothing more, nothing less.  lol.  Some of you people are nuts.

Dakich thinks it’s Devries.  That would be strange to meet with Iowa and then less than 24 hours later you have accepted and signed to be the Indiana coach.  Hard to believe.

Not really. That’s basically how Michigan ended up with Dusty May. Met with Louisville and they were sure he was signing (believe a fair amount of national reporters picked up on it) only to pick Michigan at the 11th hour.

Its entirely possible DD prefers the Iowa job but left the interview yesterday knowing they can’t provide what’s needed to succeed at the highest level.

When this is over, we need to all create another thread in which we continually speculate about other coaching searches. It's been painfully fun (if that makes sense).

Yeah, and we end up hiring Stevens this time, we can still go to to new thread to discuss how he'll never come here because he likes who he works with and his teenage daughter is a Purdue fan.

If it is DeVries, wish him best of luck and he has my full support. If he can turn around WVU with limited resources (I believe that’s the case), then I think he will do well here.

Don’t know why, but have a good gut feeling about him if he’s the coach. Didn’t have that with Archie and Woody.

My gut feeling is DeVries is a better fit for IU than McCollum. But McCollum might have the higher upside and bigger risk. I’d support both guys or whoever ends up being hired.

Good deal.  Where does Beard fit into the family tree?

Tucker Devries follows Myles Rice on Instagram.  He also follows Trent Sisley(unknown for how long now).  Typically, on Instagram, your most recent followers are at the top of your "following" list.  Rice is the 4th follower under "Following".  No other recent followings for college or soon to be college basketball players

I agree with that. IU fans can be disappointed, but it’s in everyone’s best interest to support the new coach. Everyone deserves a chance if they get the job, regardless of opinions.

How about this thought. What if it is a current coach, but with today's current NIL/portal climate, they agree to not coach the NCAA tournament game(s) so they can take the position immediately. Similar to how college football coaches will forgo the right to coach bowl games?

Could this be the way things progress in basketball in the future?
