It's more than just money.  Drake has 3 losses...30-3...and got an 11 seed.  That's gotta be frustrating to him.  He knows Drake has a ceiling that IU does not.  Postseason success is limited at Drake.  It's time to jump.  The money is secondary

It doesn't compute like that for me. He could've jumped to a better job then Drake after the 38-0 team. He had several good players obviously that could've came with him then. He wasn't interested then he when he does jump it's Drake Iowa to make a one year spring board to the ultimate nut cracker us. I'm not saying you're wrong, it seems like it's an odd plan for a guy up to now that's been very particular.

Why wait until Thursday though? Why not tomorrow or Wednesday if it’s not a coach in the tournament?

It’s possible but remember IU thought they were going to have a game this week. All involved were not planning on an earlier announcement.

I haven't seen Wade's teams, but is Wade that good?

Young Pitino, and had he not got caught doing young Pitino like stuff, he would be very far along. There's a Wade YouTube clip to him reacting to a sloppy win at LSU that you would like.b

If an agreement were in place, I’d assume the plan for announcing it would have a contingency for if we don’t make the tournament considering the timing of the portal opening, pre-tournament news cycle, time to build out staff, etc. IMO… especially since it wasn’t so far fetched that we’d miss the tournament.

This. It wasn't a guarantee IU would make the tournament, if they had a contract with someone they should've had a plan in case of missing the tournament.

I believe Ben McCollum believes he could turn Drake into the next Gonzaga and become the next Mark Few if you told him he couldn’t.

Chris Collins would probably do fairly well at IU- I don’t k ow why I think that lol.

I agree with you. Obviously, Chris Collins is not a sexy choice, but considering the level of talent he's been forced to work with, there are a few positive things. (1) He is a pretty good motivator (2) His teams play hard nosed defense because that's pretty much the only way he can win (3) From offensive standpoint, Collins seems to utilize his players' talents well and he can tweak based on what he's got.

With that said, it's kind of a mystery why he hasn't attracted job offers.

Bulls have tomorrow off …

Sorry - all this Collins talk made me think of his Chicago counterpart.   I like Collins too for the record.

WHAT IF …. big money was indeed raised …

Bulls are in purgatory.  Going nowhere.  Nobody knows the direction.  Owner doesn’t care.

anyway - just thinking out loud.

I’ve said this a few times, but Collins is comfortable in Chicago.  He would leave for the right job, not just any job.   And he expressed interest the last two times the job was open.

as you mentioned, not sexy, but could do well here.  He’s high on my list!
